Another pocket of rain is developing south of El Paso, stretching towards Midland with some cloud cover. Areas like Dallas and Little Rock are enjoying clear skies, whereas Corpus Christi is seeing clouds build in, hinting at potential showers.
In Austin this afternoon, temperatures will hover around 90 degrees at 4 PM with a south wind at 11 miles per hour. By 6 PM, expect temperatures to slightly drop to 89 degrees and wind to shift slightly to the south-southeast at 10 miles per hour with mostly cloudy skies. At 8 PM, partly cloudy conditions will continue as temperatures ease down to 87 degrees with the south-southeast wind at 9 miles per hour. Ideal conditions for a warm and breezy evening in the city.
Today’s high temperatures across the Southern Plains are soaring. El Paso leads the pack with a scorching 106 degrees, while Midland isn’t far behind at 95. Dallas will see a high of 95 as well, but San Antonio will enjoy a cooler 92. Over in New Orleans, expect a more moderate day with a high of 89, and Jackson will reach about 91. These temperature contrasts highlight the heat wave gripping the western part of the region while the east experiences slightly milder conditions.
Tonight, Oklahoma City will experience a low of 69 degrees, while Dallas cools down to 73. In Little Rock, expect a mild night with a low of 73 as well. San Antonio will see a low of 77, and further south, Corpus Christi remains warm at 80 degrees.
Tomorrow in El Paso, expect a high of 99 degrees, while Midland will reach a warm 88. San Antonio is sizzling at 95 degrees, and Corpus Christi will hit 92. Dallas is also warm at 90 degrees, whereas Little Rock anticipates a high of 93. Overall, temperatures across the Southern Plains are trending above average, driven by a persistent warm air mass influencing the region.
