A line of storms is advancing through the Southern Plains, stretching from Oklahoma City and heading northeast towards Little Rock. Little Rock is currently experiencing thunderstorms, contributing to the convective activity in the region. To the southwest, skies are clearer around the Midland and San Antonio areas, where dry conditions prevail. In Louisiana, closer to the New Orleans area, a few showers are drifting southeast. The Kansas City area, although dry now, might see an increase in cloud cover from the west.
Afternoon temperatures in Austin are peaking at 92 degrees with sunny skies. Winds from the north at 5 to 6 miles per hour provide a gentle breeze. As we move into the early evening, expect temperatures to slightly dip to 89 degrees by 8 PM.
We’re seeing some warm temperatures across the Southern Plains today. In San Antonio, it’s heating up to 99 degrees, making it one of the warmest spots in the region. Corpus Christi is also enjoying the heat with a high of 90 degrees. Dallas will reach 83 degrees, and Midland is slightly warmer at 87 degrees. Jackson stands at a warm 89 degrees, while El Paso is cooler at 87 degrees.
Tonight, Oklahoma City will see a low of 62 degrees, while Dallas cools down to 66. Farther west, Midland will drop to 70 degrees, and El Paso will rest at 67. Little Rock checks in at 62 degrees, with Jackson expected to dip to 61.
Tomorrow El Paso is forecasted to reach a sizzling 96 degrees, with Midland hot on its heels at 97. San Antonio will bask in a sunny 95 degrees, while Corpus Christi is expected to hit 87. Farther north, Dallas is looking at a high of 89 degrees, with Oklahoma City slightly cooler at 91.
A cold front pushes into the Southern Plains, bringing rain from Dallas to Corpus Christi, offering much-needed moisture. Oklahoma City should brace for stronger storms as this system progresses. With a potent air mass and the advancing front, keep an eye out for severe weather alerts from Texas to Arkansas through Wednesday evening. Expect cooler temperatures following the front, with clearer skies emerging by Thursday.
