Stormy weather is moving across the Southern Plains with heavy rain and thunderstorms stretching from Oklahoma City northward to Kansas City. In Oklahoma City, severe thunderstorms are ongoing, while rain showers extend into nearby areas. Dallas and its surrounding regions are experiencing scattered rain showers, which are also stretching toward Little Rock. In contrast, the southern portion, including San Antonio and Corpus Christi, remains largely clear as the weather system tracks eastward. A wide band of precipitation extends through Arkansas, pushing towards the Mississippi Delta.
Afternoon temperatures in Austin climb to 82 degrees under sunny skies, with a north-northwest wind blowing at 3 mph. The weather starts mostly sunny at 3 PM with temperatures at 79 degrees. By 7 PM, expect temperatures to dip slightly back to 79 degrees while remaining sunny.
This afternoon, the Southern Plains will experience some warm temperatures. In San Antonio, expect a high of 84 degrees, while Corpus Christi will see 82 degrees. Dallas and Midland will both reach 73 and 75 degrees, respectively. Little Rock is a bit warmer at 79 degrees, contrasting with cooler spots like Oklahoma City, topping out at a milder 59 degrees.
Tonight in the Southern Plains, temperatures are dipping significantly. Expect a chilly 54 degrees in Little Rock, while Dallas will see a low of 59. Oklahoma City will cool down to about 57 degrees, and temperatures in El Paso will drop to 57 as well. San Antonio will remain milder at 70 degrees, with Corpus Christi just a bit warmer at 72.
High temperatures in the Southern Plains for tomorrow will be warmer than average, with a notable heat wave impacting the region. San Antonio is set to reach a sweltering 90 degrees, while Midland will also see a high of 86 degrees. El Paso is expected to hit 86 degrees as well, bringing mild conditions to the west. Dallas will experience a pleasant high of 82 degrees. In addition, Oklahoma City anticipates a comfortable 81 degrees, with Little Rock expected to match that at 81 degrees as well.
