The regional radar for the Southern Plains is showing a significant weather system moving through the southeastern part of the region. Strong storms are currently affecting the area around Jackson, Mississippi, with rain also extending towards New Orleans. This storm system is tracking eastward, bringing heavy rain and potential thunderstorms. Areas such as Dallas, Oklahoma City, and El Paso are experiencing clear skies with no precipitation in sight. The higher elevations near the southern Colorado border have snowy patches, but the rest of the Southern Plains remain predominantly dry and clear.
Afternoon temperatures in Austin are peaking around 78 degrees at 4 PM with a few showers expected. Winds are coming from the north at 8 miles per hour. By 6 PM, expect mostly cloudy skies with a slight temperature increase to 79 degrees and a shift to a north-northeast wind at 6 miles per hour. As we approach 8 PM, conditions will turn partly cloudy with temperatures at 77 degrees and light north-northeast winds at 7 miles per hour.
This afternoon, temperatures are warming up nicely across the Southern Plains. In San Antonio, expect a high of 83 degrees, while Corpus Christi will be a bit warmer at 85.
