A band of showers stretches from St. Louis northeastward to Fort Wayne, with moderate rain moving through Indianapolis and spreading into western Ohio. To the southeast, Charleston is experiencing a more intense rainfall and potential thunderstorms. Scattered showers are seen across areas extending towards Cleveland, where cloud cover is increasing but precipitation remains light for now. Des Moines and Chicago enjoy clear conditions, as the rain has not yet arrived in those locations. The Midwest is dealing with varying intensities of precipitation, with rain expanding as it heads eastward.
In Chicago tomorrow morning, start your day with cloudy skies and temperatures around 50 degrees by 8 AM. The wind will be from the west-northwest at 7 miles per hour. As the morning progresses, you’ll notice temperatures warming up to 56 degrees by 10 AM with a few sun peeks as clouds begin to break. WNW winds will slightly pick up to 9 miles per hour, continuing through the noon hour.
High temperatures in the Midwest tomorrow are expected to be above average, with several cities experiencing warm conditions. Kansas City will reach 76 degrees, while Peoria also enjoys similar warmth at 76. Indianapolis will see a high of 71 degrees, and Louisville is set for 71 as well. Further north, Chicago will enjoy a high of 68 degrees, while Fort Wayne remains cooler at 59.
A dynamic weather day is shaping up for the Midwest tomorrow, as a cold front sweeps through. Expect scattered thunderstorms with heavy rain in parts of Indiana, Ohio, and Michigan, potentially affecting cities like Fort Wayne, Columbus, and Detroit. There’s a risk of severe weather, including damaging winds, particularly in the late afternoon to evening. Behind the front, cooler temperatures will prevail, offering some relief from the recent warmth. As the rain wraps up toward the evening, skies are expected to gradually clear into Wednesday.
The UV index in Chicago today is low due to a storm system providing cloud cover, significantly reducing UV exposure. However, keep in mind, when skies clear, the UV index is expected to rise to 7 over the next couple of days. This indicates a high risk of sun exposure, with burn times as short as 20 minutes in direct sunlight. Be prepared with sunscreen and protective clothing for those sunnier days ahead!
