A robust weather system is bringing showers primarily over the Chicago area, extending into southwest Michigan. Indianapolis is experiencing overcast skies with potential rain moving in soon. Light showers are developing near Des Moines, Iowa, and Chicago’s cloud cover is thickening as precipitation becomes more widespread. Cloud cover is also building around Fort Wayne and Detroit, indicating potential showers later in the day. Kansas City is basking under clear skies, providing a brief break from any precipitation.
In Chicago this evening, temperatures will gradually decrease from 66 degrees at 8 PM to 61 degrees by midnight. Expect partly cloudy skies throughout the evening, providing some coverage but still leaving room for those stellar nighttime views. Winds will shift slightly from south-southeast at six mph to a gentle breeze from the south at four mph by midnight, creating a mild, pleasant evening atmosphere.
Tonight Indianapolis and Fort Wayne have forecasted for lows of 60 degrees. Des Moines will see a low of 53 degrees, while Kansas City stays slightly warmer at 59.
Temperatures across the Midwest region will soar above average tomorrow, with many areas experiencing a taste of early summer warmth. Indianapolis, Peoria, and St. Louis are all set to reach a high of 84 degrees. Louisville will enjoy a pleasant 80 degrees, while Kansas City expects a high of 77. Cleveland will remain cooler at 75 degrees, and Chicago will see a high of only 63 degrees, influenced by lingering cloud cover.
A cold front will push through the Midwest on Wednesday, bringing showers and thunderstorms from Des Moines to Fort Wayne. Expect heavy rain in these areas, with a risk of localized flooding. Cooler air follows the front, lowering temperatures by about 10 degrees for Chicago and Indianapolis. As this system moves eastward, Detroit and Cleveland can expect rain into Thursday morning. Stay weather aware for possible severe weather alerts across Missouri and Illinois as the front advances.
The UV index in Chicago is low and will not be significant today or tomorrow due to the storm system blocking harmful rays
