This comprehensive blog post outlines what Chicagoans can expect weather-wise, from evening showers to the occasional sunny day. A weather system is bringing a swath of rain across the Midwest, stretching from Chicago to Peoria and northward into the Great Lakes region. Chicago is experiencing showers, with heavier rain moving toward Fort Wayne and into Ohio, impacting cities like Cleveland. Detroit is also seeing rain showers that could persist throughout the day. Meanwhile, areas like Indianapolis and Bowling Green have mostly clear skies for now, but clouds are increasing from the west. To the west, Des Moines reports calm conditions.
For this evening in Chicago, expect cloudy skies with showers. Temperatures will decrease slightly from 51 degrees at 9 PM to 49 degrees by 1 AM. Winds will be from the northwest at 10 to 11 miles per hour, adding a cooler feel to the evening air. Make sure to have an umbrella handy if you’re planning to be outdoors.
Tonight in the Midwest, Chicago and Peoria will be seeing lows around 45 degrees. Indianapolis is dropping to 44 degrees, while Fort Wayne can expect a low of 40 degrees. Farther south, Louisville will be slightly warmer at 47 degrees, with Kansas City at 49. In contrast, places like Des Moines will have a low of 45 degrees.
Tomorrow, Kansas City is expected to reach 70 degrees. Springfield will also see a warm day with a high of 72 degrees, while St. Louis reaches 69. On the cool side, Indianapolis is expected to only reach 58 degrees, making it significantly below average for this time of year. Chicago will see a high of 57, influenced by cooler air moving in from the north.
A low-pressure system will bring rain showers across the Midwest starting late Tuesday and continuing into Wednesday. Expect heavier rain areas from Chicago to Detroit, with the possibility of moderate downpours in Cleveland and Columbus. Fort Wayne and Indianapolis might experience lighter showers. Temperatures will remain mild, with no significant cooldown after the system passes.
The UV index in Chicago for Wednesday is moderate at 4, with a burn time of about 35 minutes. On Thursday, the index rises slightly to 5, decreasing the burn time to 27 minutes.
Wednesday: Showers are expected with a high of 54 degrees and a low of 47 degrees. Thursday: Partly cloudy skies bring a slight warmth with temperatures rising to 56 degrees, dipping to 44 at night. Friday: Partly cloudy conditions continue, with the temperature reaching 58 degrees during the day and dropping to 47 overnight. Saturday: Start with clouds early in the day, then clearing by late afternoon, reaching a comfortable 60 degrees and cooling to 48 at night. Sunday: Partly cloudy, maintaining a high of 60 degrees with an overnight low of 48. Monday: Enjoy partly cloudy skies with a high of 62 degrees and a low of 51 degrees. Tuesday: Showers return, bringing a high of 59 degrees and a low of 51 degrees.
