A storm system is impacting the Midwest and Great Lakes region with varied weather patterns. Starting from the north, snow is blanketing areas around Saginaw and Detroit and is extending eastward into Cleveland, where flurries can be expected to persist. Rain showers are sweeping across Chicago and moving towards Fort Wayne, with a similar pattern seen over Peoria.
In Central Illinois, near Springfield and St. Louis, scattered showers are observed, contributing to a damp start to the day. Kansas City, on the other hand, is experiencing breaks in precipitation, enjoying clear conditions for now.
In the Southern part of the region, Louisville and Bowling Green are seeing trailing rain showers, part of the broader storm system affecting the Midwest. As this system moves east, areas in and around Columbus and Indianapolis are bracing for an increase in cloud cover and rain.
Farther east, Charleston is under clear skies as the weather system moves away, but clouds are starting to edge in, suggesting a change in conditions as the day progresses.
Tomorrow morning in Chicago, expect a brisk start with temperatures around 37 degrees at 8 AM, warming up to 41 degrees by 10 AM. The wind will be coming from the north-northeast, starting at 8 miles per hour and increasing slightly to 10 miles per hour.
Tomorrow’s high temperatures across the Midwest are looking to be slightly below average as a cool front moves through the region.
In Kansas City, expect a high of 66 degrees, which is notably warmer than many nearby areas. St. Louis follows with a high of 57 degrees. Peoria will see a temperature of 57 as well.
Moving east, Indianapolis can expect a high of only 52 degrees, while Chicago will remain on the cooler side at 48 degrees. Over in Fort Wayne, the temperature will reach 50 degrees.
Columbus will be even chillier, topping out at 48 degrees. Cleveland is forecasted for a brisk 41 degrees.
For the Midwest forecast tomorrow, a weather shift is on the horizon. Expect scattered showers primarily around St. Louis and Springfield, moving eastward. Downpours could bring localized flooding, so keep an umbrella handy and stay alert for scattered thunderstorms. Detroit and Cleveland will see more mild conditions with mostly cloudy skies and chances of light rain, especially by afternoon.
Moving into the evening, a low-pressure system introduces a chance for thunderstorms in the Illinois region, particularly affecting areas from Chicago to Peoria. Pay attention to any developments as conditions can evolve quickly. As the system advances, rain showers are likely to persist into the early morning hours for Indianapolis and Bowling Green, contributing to a wet start to the day.
Temperatures will remain stable across the region, with daytime highs in the mid-50s to low 60s. Winds will pick up moderately, especially closer to the storms. Keep an eye out for N-W-S advisories over the next 48 hours to stay informed and prepared.
The UV index in Chicago is moderate today at 3, with a cloud cover limiting sun exposure—no significant burn risk is expected. On Friday, however, the UV index increases to 6 under clearer skies, bringing a higher sun exposure risk.
