Heavy rain showers are sweeping across the northern Midwest, reaching areas like Chicago and Detroit with steady precipitation. Fort Wayne and Indianapolis are experiencing a band of rain moving northeastward, suggesting a wet afternoon ahead. Peoria and Des Moines are seeing sporadic showers, indicating a lull between storm systems. In Cleveland, light rain is coming off the Great Lakes, with cloud cover extending to Bowling Green. St. Louis and Springfield are enjoying a break with clear skies, as the precipitation stays mostly to the north and east.
Afternoon temperatures in Chicago will hover around 64 degrees at 4 PM, reaching 65 degrees by 6 PM with mostly cloudy skies. Winds are coming from the west-southwest at 13 miles per hour, shifting to the west at 11 miles per hour as the evening progresses. By 8 PM, temperatures cool to 60 degrees with winds from the west-northwest at 8 miles per hour under cloudy conditions.
