A line of storms is sweeping across the Midwest, with strong rain showers currently impacting Des Moines and moving eastward. Peoria and Springfield are experiencing heavier precipitation, while light rain is beginning to approach the outskirts of Chicago. St. Louis and Kansas City are seeing light to moderate rain but should remain clear of severe weather. Fort Wayne and parts of Michigan near Detroit could see increasing cloud cover as the system progresses.
Tomorrow morning in Chicago, temperatures will start at 75 degrees by 9 AM, gradually rising to 82 degrees by 11 AM. Expect a partly cloudy sky with a gentle breeze from the south at 4 to 5 miles per hour.
Tomorrow, high temperatures in the Midwest are expected to soar, with Springfield reaching a sizzling 98 degrees. St. Louis is not far behind at 95, while Kansas City will see 96 degrees. Peoria and Chicago are on track for a warm 92 and 90 degrees, respectively. Several cities, including Indianapolis and Louisville, will also hit 90 degrees, indicating a widespread warm trend across the region.
A wave of showers and storms will sweep through the Midwest starting tonight, bringing widespread rainfall from St. Louis to Cleveland by Friday evening. Expect potential for heavy rain and localized flooding, especially in areas around Indianapolis and Fort Wayne. A cold front passage will shift temperatures down by 5-10 degrees, bringing cooler air into Kansas City and Louisville by Saturday morning. Gusty winds may accompany the leading edge of storms, particularly in areas like Peoria and Springfield. High pressure will begin to build in late Saturday, clearing skies and bringing a refreshing breeze.
