Rain showers are currently visible stretching from Springfield to Peoria, with occasional pockets of heavier precipitation. Fort Wayne and Bowling Green are also experiencing some scattered rain showers this morning. Clear skies dominate over Chicago and Cleveland, offering calm conditions for now.
Afternoon in Chicago brings cloudy skies with temperatures easing from 86 degrees at 4 PM to 80 degrees by 8 PM. Expect a steady southwest wind around 9 miles per hour, offering a gentle breeze throughout the afternoon.
In the Midwest today, high temperatures are making an impression. Kansas City tops the list at a sizzling 88 degrees, while St. Louis isn’t far behind with a warm 89. Chicago sees a comfortable 86 degrees, providing a pleasant afternoon. Meanwhile, Indianapolis hits a high of 87 degrees, and to the north in Fort Wayne, residents can expect a high of 85. A cool front is keeping Cleveland a bit more temperate with a high of 76 degrees.
Tonight, expect lows around 62 degrees in Fort Wayne and 67 degrees in Chicago. Indianapolis will see a mild night at 69 degrees, while St. Louis drops to 71. Further north, temperatures will remain relatively warm, with Des Moines at 69 degrees and Cleveland slightly cooler at 71 degrees.
Tomorrow, high temperatures soar across the Midwest. Kansas City will hit a hot 92 degrees, while St. Louis reaches 90. Springfield and Peoria are forecasted to be warm as well, both with highs around 89 degrees. Indianapolis will enjoy a balmy 87 degrees, and Fort Wayne also sees a pleasant 84.
