Over the Southwest, clear skies dominate from Los Angeles to San Diego, providing sunny and dry conditions. As we move inland, Bakersfield and Fresno are experiencing a break from precipitation. Slightly north, Reno is expecting mixed precipitation. In the mountains near Cedar City, rain showers are persisting, accompanied by light snow at higher altitudes. Ely is witnessing light rain moving southeast while Salt Lake City is dealing with rain showers pushing through.
This evening in Los Angeles, temperatures will gradually drop from 59 degrees at 8 PM to 55 degrees by midnight. Winds will start from the south-southwest at 8 miles per hour, easing to 3 miles per hour from the south by 12 AM. Expect partly cloudy skies initially, transitioning to mostly cloudy conditions as the night progresses.
Flagstaff dips to a brisk 35 degrees, while Ely will be even colder at 36. Las Vegas manages a relatively mild 62, but nearby Cedar City will cool down to 45. Bakersfield will experience a low of 51, and Los Angeles is forecasted at 52. In contrast, Phoenix will remain warm at 65 degrees.
High temperatures in the Southwest will be notably warm tomorrow, with many areas experiencing readings above average for this time of year. Phoenix is expected to soar to a high of 93 degrees, while Las Vegas will reach 84 degrees. In Southern California, Los Angeles is cooler at 61 degrees, and San Diego will see a pleasant 63 degrees. Fresno anticipates a high of 69 degrees, staying mild, while Bakersfield warms up to 72 degrees.
A high-pressure system will maintain clear skies over Arizona and New Mexico, with temperatures soaring to the mid-80s. Expect gusty winds to develop by afternoon, particularly along the New Mexico-Texas border, increasing the fire danger. Locally heavy rainfall in Southern California is possible as low-pressure moves in, creating tricky travel conditions in mountain areas. Watch out for scattered thunderstorms along the Sierra Nevada. As this system exits, cooler air will sweep across Nevada and Utah, leading to a slight dip in temperatures by Wednesday evening.
In Los Angeles, the UV index is expected to be high both Thursday and Friday, with a level of 7. This means sun exposure can result in a burn in just about 20 minutes.
