Slight rain activity is seen just east of Reno. Most of California, including key cities like San Francisco, Los Angeles, and San Diego, remains dry. Flagstaff and Phoenix are also clear, enjoying sunny skies.
Temperatures in Los Angeles this afternoon range from 77 degrees at 4 PM to 78 degrees at 6 PM. Expect mostly sunny skies turning clear by 8 PM. Winds will be light, coming from the south-southwest at 7 to 9 miles per hour.
High temperatures are sizzling across the Southwest today. In Phoenix, expect a hot 112 degrees, while Las Vegas heats up to 105. Bakersfield will see a high of 102, and Fresno isn’t far behind at 101. Meanwhile, temperatures drop significantly in San Francisco, peaking at just 64 degrees. Flagstaff offers a cooler option at 83.
Tonight Los Angeles will see a low of 61 degrees, while San Diego is expected to drop to 61 as well. In Las Vegas, the temperature will cool to 77 degrees; meanwhile, Flagstaff is much cooler at 52 degrees.
Tomorrow in the Southwest, we’re seeing some significant heat. Phoenix will be hot at 106 degrees, while Las Vegas warms up to 97. Bakersfield and Fresno are both hitting 102 degrees, indicating a pattern of above-average temperatures across the region. San Diego remains relatively mild with a high of 75 degrees, contrasting sharply with the desert areas. San Francisco is much cooler at 63 degrees.
Temperatures in the Southwest will remain high as a clear and sunny pattern dominates the desert areas. Northern California will experience several rounds of valley rain from Tuesday into Wednesday, creating potential for slick conditions on roads. Meanwhile, the San Bernardino Valley in Southern California will see heavy rain, making for tricky travel in mountain passes. While the desert remains dry, rain and thunderstorms could introduce some welcome relief to parched regions, so keep an eye out for any localized flooding. As the system progresses, dry weather is expected to return by late Wednesday.
The UV index in Los Angeles is at an extreme level of 11 on Tuesday, posing a high risk of harm from unprotected sun exposure. Make sure to limit time in direct sunlight from late morning through afternoon, as a sunburn can develop in just 11 minutes.
