The Southwest region is showcasing a dynamic mix of weather today. Starting in the northern part, Salt Lake City is under clear conditions. Moving toward the Pacific, Redding, California sees a mix of rain that transitions into clearer skies as you head south toward San Francisco. The central valleys around Fresno and Bakersfield are dealing with rain, which provides much-needed moisture. In the Sierra Nevada, snow continues to accumulate. Los Angeles enjoys relatively mild weather with only minimal cloudiness, while San Diego sees more clear skies. In Arizona, Flagstaff braces for more snow, contributing to the chill in the air. Meanwhile, Las Vegas, positioned in the rain shadow, remains dry. Cedar City is encountering a light shower. Elsewhere, Phoenix benefits from clear skies, steering away from the potential for rain and remaining warm.
For this evening in Los Angeles, expect partly cloudy skies with temperatures dropping from 64 degrees at 8 PM to 58 degrees by midnight. Winds will shift slightly from SSW at 6 mph in the early evening to a calm S at 3 mph by late night.
Tonight in the Southwest, we’re seeing some significant temperature drops. In Ely, expect a chilly low of 42 degrees. Flagstaff will be feeling even colder, with temperatures dipping to 39 degrees. Las Vegas is looking at a low of 63, providing a stark contrast. Over in Cedar City, temperatures will fall to 48 degrees. Meanwhile, Phoenix will maintain a warmer night at 65 degrees. Areas like San Diego and Los Angeles will experience mild lows of 54 and 53 degrees, respectively.
High temperatures for the Southwest tomorrow are on the rise, as a warm front brings above-average readings across the region. Cedar City will see mild temperatures at 72 degrees. Las Vegas is expected to hit a scorching 91 degrees, making it one of the hottest spots in the area. Phoenix is not far behind, forecasting a high of 93 degrees. Moving towards California, Bakersfield should reach 84 degrees, while Fresno warms to 83. Los Angeles will be on the cooler side at 64 degrees, and San Diego is expected to see a high of 63 degrees.
On the Southwest futurecast, an active weather scenario is expected. Northern California will face rounds of valley rain from late Tuesday into Wednesday, while Southern California, especially the San Bernardino Valley, prepares for another spell of showers accompanied by heavy rain. These conditions lead to tricky travel and slick roads over the mountain passes.
