Across the Southwest region, a dynamic weather pattern is unfolding. Rain from the Pacific is moving inland and impacting much of California’s coastal areas. Redding is experiencing sustained rain showers, which are extending down towards San Francisco and Fresno, offering a refreshing break from dry conditions. Farther south, Bakersfield faces lighter rain activity.
In the Sierra Nevada, snow is falling across the higher elevations, visible near Reno, adding to spring’s snowpack. Salt Lake City can expect some snow flurries as well. Ely in Nevada stays dry for now, and a mix of cloud cover extends over Cedar City in Utah.
Las Vegas enjoys dry conditions under partly cloudy skies while farther east, Flagstaff braces for colder temperatures with potential light snow showers. Phoenix remains clear and dry, keeping with its typical desert weather, while San Diego experiences coastal showers, ushering in a more mild pattern.
For Los Angeles tomorrow morning, anticipate a clear start at 7 am with temperatures around 46 degrees and a light WNW breeze at 7 mph. As the morning progresses, temperatures dip slightly to 45 degrees by 9 am with the wind shifting slightly to NW at 5 mph, accompanied by sunny skies. By 11 am, the temperature rises to a more comfortable 51 degrees, while the NW wind increases slightly to 8 mph.
Here’s the regional high temperature rundown for the Southwest this Wednesday:
In Southern California, San Diego will enjoy a mild day with a high of 60 degrees. Bakersfield checks in with similar temperatures at 61 degrees.
As we shift eastward, Las Vegas expects highs around 57 degrees, while farther north, in Ely, temperatures will only reach a chilly 37 degrees. Farther east in Flagstaff, the expected high is also a brisk 37 degrees.
Phoenix rounds out the forecast with a high of 64 degrees, matching San Diego’s temperature.
For the Southwest forecast, expect varied weather conditions through Wednesday. Northern California will experience multiple rounds of valley rain, with totals reaching up to two inches in places like Sacramento and extending into the Sierra Nevada with heavier mountain snow. This will create tricky driving conditions over passes. Meanwhile, farther south, Southern California sees some more mild showers, with the San Bernardino Valley receiving moderate rainfall that could lead to localized flooding in low-lying areas. Temperatures remain in the 60s along the coast, while inland areas experience cooler conditions post-rain. The dry and sunny pattern will resume late Wednesday for the desert regions, including Las Vegas and Phoenix, with temperatures climbing back into the 70s.
The UV index in Los Angeles is projected to be high at 8 for both Tuesday and Wednesday, with a burn time of approximately 17 minutes.
