The regional radar for the Southwest on April 1st, 2025, reveals a dynamic weather scenario. Currently, Northern California is experiencing active weather with rain showers pushing inland from the Pacific Ocean, particularly around the Redding area. These rain showers are moving toward the central valleys, providing much-needed precipitation. In higher elevations, such as near Reno, there’s a mix of rain and snow, with a clear transition to snow in areas farther east towards the Wasatch Front. This could bring a fresh blanket of snow to mountain ranges, with the mix of rain and snow indicating varying elevation impacts. Southern Nevada, around Las Vegas, remains dry with no significant weather activity. Central regions like Fresno and Bakersfield are experiencing scattered rain showers, offering a welcome reprieve from dry conditions. Southern California, including San Diego, is seeing only light drizzle in the vicinity. Residents in Flagstaff should anticipate cooler temperatures with potential for snow showers due to incoming systems. Phoenix is staying dry under clear skies.
For Los Angeles this evening, expect partly cloudy skies transitioning to mostly cloudy by midnight. Temperatures will ease from 62 degrees at 8 PM to a cooler 55 degrees by midnight. Farther north, Bakersfield gets up to 61 degrees, and Fresno sees a high of 61 degrees as well, consistent with seasonal averages. San Francisco is looking at a cool 59 degrees. Ely, Nevada is notably cooler, struggling to reach just 37 degrees due to lingering cloud cover.
Expect an active weather pattern across the Southwest tomorrow. Rain showers are anticipated from Northern California into Nevada, bringing much-needed moisture to the region. Meanwhile, the Sierra Nevada could see heavy mountain snow, causing slippery travel conditions over the passes. A system moving through Southern California may bring scattered showers, though the San Diego area remains largely dry. Temperatures will be cooler, particularly in California, with highs in the low 60s. As the upper-level system progresses eastward, parts of Arizona could experience isolated thunderstorms by late afternoon.
