Los Angeles is gearing up for a picture-perfect Memorial Day Weekend, according to Meteorologist Amy Freeze. With temperatures comfortably in the 70s, residents and visitors alike can look forward to cloud-free skies and gentle breezes. Whether you’re planning a beach day or a city tour, the weather will be on your side. Don’t forget to protect yourself from the high UV index – sun safety is key! It’s a calm and pleasant day across the intermountain west. On the Pacific Coast a few isolated showers are developing near Redding. The skies over Las Vegas and the southern cities of San Diego and Los Angeles remain clear, making it a great day to be outdoors. Flagstaff and Phoenix are enjoying cloud-free skies, ideal for Memorial Day Weekend.
For Los Angeles this afternoon, expect temperatures to peak at 70 degrees by 6 PM, dipping to 69 degrees as the evening progresses. Winds will be gentle from the south-southwest at about 7 to 8 miles per hour. Starting with partly cloudy skies, the sun will take over by 6 PM, delivering a sunny and serene setting.
This afternoon Las Vegas hits a scorching 96 degrees, while Phoenix isn’t far behind with a high of 98. In California, Los Angeles sees a more moderate high of 71, with San Diego slightly cooler at 68. Fresno is also warm, reaching 89 degrees, and Bakersfield is expected to top out at a sizzling 90. Areas like Flagstaff and Cedar City are cooler, only hitting 73 degrees. Redding rounds out the region with a high of 86 degrees.
Tonight Las Vegas will see a low of 71 degrees, while Flagstaff will drop to a chilly 43 degrees. Expect San Francisco to cool down to 50 degrees, and Fresno will rest at 57. Bakersfield is forecasted to see a low of 59 degrees. Los Angeles and San Diego are also expected to settle at 59 degrees.
Tomorrow Phoenix will see a sizzling high of 100 degrees, while Las Vegas heats up to 98 degrees. Bakersfield and Fresno are looking at pleasant highs of 82 and 84 degrees, respectively. Coastal areas will be milder with San Diego reaching 70 degrees and Los Angeles 72 degrees.
A high-pressure system dominates the weather in the Southwest tomorrow, delivering clear skies and plenty of sunshine, especially in the desert areas. Daytime temperatures will climb, with highs reaching into the mid to upper 90s, so stay hydrated if you’re out and about. Coastal regions of Southern California might see a few more clouds and patches of morning fog, but it clears up by midday.
The UV index in Los Angeles on Sunday will be high at 10, with a quick burn time of about 12 minutes in direct sunlight. On Monday, the UV index slightly decreases to 9, but still poses a high risk with a burn time of 15 minutes.
