Rain is moving inland from the Pacific Ocean, bringing much-needed precipitation to parts of the Southwest. The California coastline, from Redding southward through San Francisco and Fresno, is experiencing moderate showers, providing relief to the central California valleys. Across the higher elevations near Reno and farther east, snow is falling, creating a winter wonderland with some slick roads.
While Los Angeles and San Diego are basking in mild weather with only light drizzle, a chillier mix of rain and snow is expected in the mountain regions around Flagstaff. In contrast, Cedar City has light showers.
“Tomorrow morning in Los Angeles begins with foggy conditions at 7 AM and a temperature of 56 degrees. As the morning progresses, the fog lifts slightly, revealing a cloudy sky all the way through to 11 AM, with temperatures rising gently to 57 degrees. Expect calm winds throughout your morning commute, adding to the mild atmosphere.”
Here’s the high temperature outlook for the Southwest on Tuesday:
In Las Vegas, expect a sizzling high of 91 degrees, well above the seasonal average. Phoenix is also heating up with a high of 93 degrees, contributing to a warm trend in the desert regions. Meanwhile, Salt Lake City will see a more pleasant 75 degrees, while farther north, Ely is looking at a comfortable 69 degrees. In Cedar City, temperatures will reach around 72 degrees, and Flagstaff will see a cooler high of 68 degrees.
“Expect clearer skies across much of the Southwest tomorrow. However, for those along the California coast, particularly in the north, anticipate continued rounds of rain through Wednesday. Southern California, including the San Bernardino Valley, should prepare for additional showers and potential heavy rainfall, making travel on mountain passes tricky. As this unsettled weather progresses, be mindful of rapidly changing road conditions and localized flooding risks.”
“The UV index in Los Angeles is 6 on Tuesday, meaning you’ll want to be cautious with a burn time of just about 23 minutes in direct sunlight. By Wednesday, the index eases slightly to 5, allowing a burn time of 27 minutes. Remember to wear sunscreen and protective gear for outdoor activities!”
