In Reno and Fresno, the skies remain clear, providing a pleasant respite from any precipitation. Showers hover over Redding. Coastal cities like San Francisco and Los Angeles are dry.
In the afternoon hours in Los Angeles, temperatures will hover around 78 to 79 degrees, perfect for outdoor activities. We’ll see partly cloudy skies transitioning to mostly sunny conditions by 8 PM. Winds will be coming from the south-southwest at around 7 to 9 miles per hour, providing a gentle breeze.
Today Phoenix gets to a sizzling at 105 degrees, making it one of the hottest spots in the region. Las Vegas follows closely behind with a high of 101 degrees, while Flagstaff remains cooler at 79. Bakersfield is toasty as well, reaching 94 degrees, whereas Fresno checks in at 93. Over in San Diego, a more comfortable 76 degrees offers a pleasant escape from the heat.
Tonight expect a brisk 41 degrees in Flagstaff and just 42 in Ely. Las Vegas will be a bit more mild at 71 degrees, but those in Cedar City can anticipate a low of 54. Farther west, San Francisco will dip to 50 degrees, and Bakersfield will stay warmer at 59.
High temperatures in Las Vegas tomorrow will be sizzling with a high of 99 degrees, while Phoenix anticipates a scorching 104 degrees. In Southern California, Los Angeles reaches a pleasant 74 degrees, with Fresno a bit warmer at 86. Bakersfield heats up to 88 degrees, and further north, San Francisco cools down to 61 degrees.
A strong low-pressure system in the Southwest will bring significant weather changes on Friday heading into the Memorial Day weekend. Expect scattered thunderstorms with the potential for isolated severe storms in parts of Arizona and New Mexico. Rainfall could be heavy at times, leading to potential localized flooding, especially in low-lying areas. Cool temperatures will follow the system’s passage, with daytime highs dipping by 5 to 10 degrees across the region.
The UV index in Los Angeles will reach an extreme level of 10 on Thursday, with an expected burn time of just 12 minutes in direct sunlight. On Friday, the UV index remains at 10.
