A quick look at the Southwest regional radar reveals a mix of weather conditions in various locations. In the higher elevations around Ely, light snow is currently falling, bringing a wintry chill to the area. Moving to the southwest, Flagstaff is experiencing light snow showers as well. The Pacific coastline is witnessing rain showers moving in from offshore, providing some much-needed moisture to Redding and San Francisco while continuing southward along the coast. Amidst these changing conditions, Las Vegas and Phoenix remain dry, with no significant precipitation expected.
Los Angeles is set for a mild start tomorrow morning. Expect temperatures at 54 degrees at both 8 AM and 10 AM, accompanied by a calm weather pattern with wind coming from the northeast at 2 mph during the early hours.
High temperatures for the Southwest region tomorrow look quite warm, with several cities experiencing above-average temps for early April.
In southern California, Los Angeles will see a pleasant high of 77 degrees, while San Diego isn’t far behind at 79 degrees. Heading inland, Bakersfield warms up to 82 degrees, and Fresno is forecasting an impressive high of 81 degrees.
Over in Nevada, Las Vegas is set to reach 79 degrees, while Ely enjoys a milder 63 degrees. In Utah, Cedar City will be cooler at 59 degrees.
Farther east, Phoenix is expected to hit 82 degrees, which is notable for this time of year. The warm air is being driven by a strong ridge of high pressure settling over the region, creating a sunny and dry pattern.
Expect a tranquil and mostly sunny day for the desert Southwest through Sunday, perfect for outdoor activities. Along the coast, the weather scene shifts significantly from Sunday night into Monday as a series of weather systems approach. Northern California, including the Bay Area, can anticipate several rounds of valley rain, while Southern California’s San Bernardino Valley braces for showers, occasionally heavy. This could make for tricky driving, particularly over mountain passes. Stay weather aware as the pattern evolves over the next 48 hours with possible hazardous driving conditions.
The UV index in Los Angeles will reach a high of 8 both today and tomorrow, posing a risk for quick sunburn. Expect burn times as short as 17 minutes under direct sunlight. It’s a great sunny weekend, but remember to apply sunscreen regularly and wear protective gear if you’re heading outdoors!
