The Southwest region is showing some interesting weather patterns on the radar. Light rain is spotted near Reno, making its way eastward towards Ely, Eee-lie, adding some moisture to the dry terrain. Cedar City and Flagstaff are experiencing clear skies, providing a calm evening for those areas. Meanwhile, San Francisco and Los Angeles along the coast remain dry. For Salt Lake City, expect calm conditions as no precipitation currently looms over the region.
In Los Angeles this afternoon, temperatures will rise to 61 degrees at 3 PM and peak at 63 degrees by 5 PM. Expect winds from the south-southwest at around 9 miles per hour. It will remain mostly cloudy, transitioning to partly cloudy skies by 7 PM with temperatures returning to 61 degrees.
Looking at today’s high temperatures in the Southwest, Phoenix is blazing with a high of 91 degrees, making it one of the hottest spots in the region. Over in Las Vegas, temperatures reach 88 degrees, providing a warm and sun-filled day. Cedar City sees a comfortable high of 70 degrees, while Flagstaff remains cooler at 66 degrees. Southern California cities like Los Angeles and San Diego are both sitting at 63 degrees, experiencing much milder conditions compared to their desert neighbors. Bakersfield and Fresno notched highs of 73 degrees, offering pleasant temperatures for outdoor activities. The regional contrasts highlight the typical warm-weather pattern of the Southwest, with significant variances from the deserts to the coastal areas.
Tonight, the Southwest will see some significant temperature drops as cold air sweeps through the region. Las Vegas will cool down to 54 degrees, while Flagstaff drops to a brisk 31. Further north, Cedar City is expected to hit a low of 29 degrees. In contrast, Phoenix remains relatively mild at 60 degrees. Expect San Diego to feel comfortable with a low of 55 degrees.
High temperatures across the Southwest tomorrow are looking warm and above average. Las Vegas will reach a high of 76 degrees, while Phoenix is set to soar to 81 degrees. In California, Fresno will see highs around 71 degrees, and Los Angeles is expected to hit 58 degrees. San Francisco will be cooler at 61 degrees, but overall, most of the region will enjoy a break from cooler temperatures. The warmth is influenced by high pressure settling over the area, sparking a trend towards milder conditions.
Expect an active weather pattern across the Southwest through tomorrow. Northern California will experience rounds of valley rain, which could be heavy at times, leading to potential tricky driving conditions. Southern California’s San Bernardino Valley may see more showers, with a chance of some heavy downpours, increasing the risk of slick roads, particularly in mountain areas.
