Clear conditions prevail across much of the Southwest, with a particular focus on the California to Nevada where the skies are mostly sunny.
The coastal areas, including San Francisco and Los Angeles, remain dry and bright, embracing the first day of summer!
However, the Wasatch Front in Northern Utah is experiencing some heavy cloud cover moving east into the mountain regions. Ely shows some light showers.
Los Angeles afternoon temperatures are climbing to a comfortable 74 degrees by 6 PM, with a gentle breeze from the south-southwest at around 7 to 8 miles per hour. Expect partly cloudy skies initially, transitioning to sunny conditions as the afternoon progresses. Ideal weather for outdoor activities with clear skies setting in by 6 PM.
Today, the Southwest is feeling the heat with high temperatures soaring. In Las Vegas, expect a blistering high of 105 degrees, while Phoenix takes it even higher at 109 degrees. Los Angeles will remain relatively cooler at 75, but it’s a different story in Fresno with a high of 87 degrees. Temperatures in San Diego will reach 72 degrees, giving residents a brief respite from the intense heat farther inland. Flagstaff also stays comfortable at 83 degrees.
Tonight in the Southwest, expect temperatures to drop significantly, with Ely reaching a frigid 28 degrees. Flagstaff will cool down to 49, while Las Vegas remains warmer at 70. Hitting 45 degrees, Cedar City will feel the chill of the advancing cold air. Lighter temperatures are noted in Los Angeles and San Diego, both settling at 59 and 60 degrees, respectively.
Tomorrow in Phoenix, prepare for a sweltering high of 106 degrees, significantly above average for this time of year. Las Vegas is also heating up, reaching 98 degrees, while Bakersfield and Fresno will be warmer at 82 degrees. San Diego will enjoy a milder day, hitting 69 degrees, creating a sharp contrast to the desert climate inland. This heat wave is influenced by a high-pressure system settled over the region, keeping skies clear and temperatures elevated. Expect coastal locations to experience cooler breezes, but overall, the Southwest feels the heat!

Expect sunny conditions with daytime highs reaching into the upper 80s and lower 90s across Arizona and New Mexico. Meanwhile, look out for a slight breeze in Texas, offering mild relief. No precipitation expected, maintaining dry conditions.
