Los Angeles Afternoon News – 05/13/2025 Meteorologist Amy Freeze here with your Southwest Forecast update. Anticipate clear skies and a warm, sunny afternoon in Los Angeles. From snow in the high elevations near Ely to light rain in Reno, the region offers a variety of weather conditions. Temperatures range from mild in Los Angeles to warm in Phoenix. Over the next week, expect mostly clear skies with temperature fluctuations, making it perfect for planning both indoor and outdoor activities. Stay prepared with daily weather insights from your trusted weather authority. Across the Southwest, the regional radar shows a mix of precipitation and clear skies. Snow is currently falling over the higher elevations near Ely, adding a wintry touch to this spring day. Light rain showers are developing around Reno, bringing a freshening drizzle. The rest of the region, including major areas such as San Francisco, Las Vegas, and Phoenix, is enjoying primarily clear skies with no significant precipitation in sight. Coastal areas like San Diego have dry conditions, ideal for outdoor plans.
This afternoon in Los Angeles brings partly cloudy skies with temperatures hovering around 64 degrees by 4 PM. Winds will be coming from the south-southwest at 9 miles per hour, shifting slightly to 10 miles per hour later in the evening. By 6 PM and 8 PM, temperatures remain steady at 65 degrees, maintaining a gentle breeze throughout.
In the Southwest today, we’re seeing some warm temperatures. Phoenix is topping out at a scorching 90 degrees, while Las Vegas is not far behind at 79 degrees. In contrast, Flagstaff will only reach a cool 62 degrees, highlighting a significant elevation difference. Los Angeles will enjoy a mild 66 degrees, with San Diego slightly cooler at 64. Meanwhile, Bakersfield is set for a pleasant 73 degrees, and Fresno will warm to 72.
Tonight wxpect a brisk 29 degrees in Ely and Flagstaff, while Las Vegas will see a mild low of 60. Bakersfield is set for 56 degrees, with Los Angeles slightly cooler at 53. San Diego will have a comfortable 56 degrees, and Phoenix rounds out the evening with a warmer 63.
High temperatures across the Southwest tomorrow will be quite warm, with many areas trending well above average. Phoenix is set for a hot day at 86 degrees, while Las Vegas will reach a comfortable 81. In California, Fresno and Bakersfield are forecasted to hit 81 degrees, and Los Angeles will enjoy a high of 69. San Francisco will be on the cooler side at 66 degrees. These temperatures are influenced by a high-pressure system, bringing clear skies and warm conditions to the region.
Over the next 24 to 48 hours in the Southwest, expect a mix of sunny conditions and scattered showers. A high-pressure system will keep skies clear across much of Arizona and New Mexico, but a disturbance could bring isolated showers and thunderstorms to southern Nevada and parts of southern California. By late afternoon Tuesday, the mountain areas could see enhanced precipitation with possible local flooding if showers intensify. Temperatures will remain mild with highs in the 70s and low 80s.
