Over the next week, expect a variety of weather conditions, ranging from cloudy skies to potential showers. Special attention is needed for Northern California as a cold front brings rain and snow. Over the Southwest, the regional radar shows a variety of weather conditions unfolding across the area. The Southern California coast, including areas near San Diego and Los Angeles, enjoys calm weather, although light showers are scattered in the vicinity. A patch of rain is moving inland from the Pacific Ocean toward the northern parts of California. This rain is offering welcome moisture to regions around Redding and farther south near San Francisco. To the east, Reno is seeing scattered showers which are expected to continue into the evening. For the interior regions like Cedar City and Flagstaff, conditions remain mostly dry with some patchy clouds. As for Salt Lake City, the skies are largely clear.
For this evening in Los Angeles, expect mostly cloudy skies with temperatures beginning at 59 degrees by 8 PM, dipping to 55 degrees at midnight. Winds will come from the south-southwest at 8 miles per hour early, calming to 4 miles per hour as the night progresses.
Now for the low temperatures in the Southwest tonight. Flagstaff is also in for a cold evening, forecasting a low of 30 degrees. In Las Vegas, it will be a bit milder at 51 degrees. Bakersfield will see a low of 49, while Los Angeles stays warm at 48. San Diego rounds out the region with a comfortable 53 degrees.
High temperatures for the Southwest region tomorrow are shaping up to be warm. In Phoenix, expect a high of 84 degrees, which is notably above average for this time of year. Las Vegas will see a comfortable 75 degrees also reflecting warmer conditions. Moving to California, Bakersfield is expected to reach 75 degrees, while Fresno warms up to 70 degrees. In contrast, coastal areas will be a bit cooler, with Los Angeles hitting 63 degrees and San Diego around 62 degrees. Up north, Redding will reach 61 degrees.
“The weather pattern for the Southwest will see the arrival of a cold front impacting California, especially Northern and Central regions. Expect heavy valley rain extending into the Sierra Nevada where it transitions to snow over mountain passes. While Southern California experiences some showers, the focus will be on Northern California. Travelers should exercise caution due to slick conditions. As the system moves farther east, watch for potential impacts on Nevada and Arizona with lingering precipitation through the following day. Stay on the lookout for updated weather advisories over the next 48 hours.”
The UV index in Los Angeles is expected to be moderate at 5 on Thursday, with a burn time of approximately 27 minutes in direct sunlight. As we look ahead to Friday, the UV index increases to 8, posing a higher risk, as burn time drops to about 17 minutes.
