The Southwest is experiencing some active weather patterns, particularly over Northern California and Nevada. Rain is currently moving through areas like Redding and along the Sierra Nevada, impacting Reno as well. Ely is seeing a mix of precipitation, indicative of changing weather conditions. Clear skies are holding over Southern California, with Los Angeles and San Diego remaining dry. The desert regions including Las Vegas and Phoenix, are not experiencing any significant precipitation, enjoying clear conditions.
In Los Angeles this afternoon, temperatures will stay steady at 60 degrees through 5 PM, dipping slightly to 59 degrees by 7 PM. Expect mostly cloudy skies, transitioning to partly cloudy conditions later. Winds are from the south-southwest at 9 miles per hour.
In Phoenix, it’s a warm 92 degrees, perfect for outdoor activities. Las Vegas isn’t far behind, reaching 83 degrees, while Cedar City enjoys a mild 69 degrees. Over in California, Bakersfield checks in at 71 degrees with nice conditions for springtime outings. Meanwhile, the coastal cities of San Diego and Los Angeles are cooler, both sitting at 61 degrees. Flagstaff rounds out the region with a cool high of 63 degrees, so grab a jacket if you’re heading that way!
Flagstaff will see a low of 32 degrees, while Ely experiences a chilly 29 degrees. Las Vegas is forecasted to cool down to 51, with Cedar City dropping to 36 degrees. Bakersfield will settle at 49 degrees, and further south, Los Angeles will see a mild low of 50. Expect a somewhat warmer night in Phoenix, where temperatures will dip to 59 degrees.
Phoenix is set to reach a high of 86 degrees, while Las Vegas will enjoy a pleasant 73 degrees. In contrast, coastal areas like San Diego and Los Angeles will see more temperate highs of 62 and 60 degrees, respectively. Farther north, San Francisco will remain cooler at 59 degrees.
Expect a sunny start for much of the Southwest before cloud cover increases by afternoon as a weather system approaches from the west. Northern California will see the first impacts with rain beginning in the evening, potentially heavy at times, especially in coastal areas. Southern California will experience light rain showers moving in overnight, with trickier driving conditions possible in areas like San Bernardino. Across Arizona and Nevada, conditions remain dry and breezy with cooler temperatures expected to follow the passage of this system.
The UV index in Los Angeles will be high on Friday with a level of 7, resulting in a burn time of around 20 minutes in direct sunlight. As you head into Saturday, the index rises to 8, which means even faster burn times of approximately 17 minutes.
