The Southeast is basking in mostly calm conditions. A few scattered showers are seen just off the coast of Miami, drifting east into the Atlantic, signaling a retreat of precipitation for southern Florida. As we move north, locations like Jacksonville and Savannah are experiencing clear skies, with little to no cloud cover. The same goes for the Carolinas up to Charlotte, where the skies are predominately clear. Over Tennessee and surrounding areas such as Memphis, the radar indicates dry conditions with no significant weather systems in place. Houston and New Orleans, closer to the Gulf, are also enjoying a clear spell.
Expect a warm start to your morning in Miami with partly cloudy skies. Temperatures begin at 77 degrees at 7 AM, climbing to 80 degrees by 9 AM. A gentle east-southeast breeze will flow at 14 miles per hour, increasing to 16 miles per hour by 11 AM as temperatures reach 82 degrees.
High temperatures across the Southeast are shaping up to be quite warm for tomorrow. Atlanta will see a high of 83 degrees, while Jacksonville is expected to reach 87 degrees. Montgomery swelters with a high of 90 degrees, making it one of the hottest spots in the region. Memphis and Shreveport both will see highs around 85 degrees.
New Orleans is forecasted to hit 84 degrees, aligning with the warmer trend in the Gulf states. Overall, many areas are experiencing temperatures above average for this time of year, influenced by a robust high-pressure system bringing in warm, humid air.
A cold front is on its way to sweeping across the Southeast by tomorrow morning. Expect widespread thunderstorms from New Orleans to Jacksonville throughout Tuesday, with the most intense weather moving into areas like Atlanta and Montgomery closer to the afternoon. Be prepared for heavy downpours and the potential for damaging winds, particularly from Savannah lodging into Jacksonville. By the evening, the system will shift farther east, leading to a decrease in storm activity. However, rainfall accumulations could pose flooding challenges especially in low-lying areas, with totals possibly cresting over an inch. Keep alert for severe weather advisories as this active pattern continues to advance.
The UV index in Miami will be very high on Tuesday and Wednesday, reaching a value of 10. This means sunburn can occur in as little as 12 minutes if exposed to direct sunlight.
For the 7-day forecast in Miami:
Wednesday: Mostly clear skies with a high of 82 degrees and a low of 76 degrees.
