In today’s update, Miami battles intense heat with highs pushing 88 degrees, while the Southeast braces for a line of storms stretching from Memphis to Atlanta. In the Southeast, a prominent line of storms stretches from Memphis down to Jackson, with severe weather extending toward Atlanta. Rain showers are already affecting Atlanta, bringing wet conditions to the region. Meanwhile, Montgomery is on the tipping point, preparing for incoming showers. In contrast, New Orleans and Texas including Houston and Shreveport, are enjoying drier weather. The coastal areas, including Miami and Jacksonville, appear clear, though some patchy rain is developing near Tampa.
This afternoon in Miami, expect hot weather with temperatures peaking at 87 degrees by 4 PM. Winds will be gentle from the southeast at 11 miles per hour, providing a slight breeze. Skies will clear up as the afternoon progresses, with sunny conditions dominating by 6 PM. Temperatures will gradually cool to 82 degrees by 8 PM as winds shift slightly to the south-southeast at 9 miles per hour.
This afternoon’s high temperatures in New Orleans, we’re looking at a warm 90 degrees, while Jackson will reach 86. Atlanta is slightly cooler at 84 degrees, but the warmth picks back up with Savannah hitting a steamy 92 degrees. Over in Jacksonville, it’s going to be hot, with a high soaring to 97. Tampa will experience a pleasant 91 degrees, and Miami, with a bit more of a coastal breeze, is expected to see a high of 88 degrees.
Tonight, the Southeast will experience warm temperatures, with lows remaining mild across the region. Memphis will see a low of 72 degrees, while Jackson and New Orleans will both stay at 76 degrees overnight. Atlanta will dip to 66, and Montgomery will see a low of 70 degrees. In the coastal areas, Jacksonville and Savannah will have temperatures around 71 degrees. Miami continues to stay warm with a low of 77 degrees.
High temperatures for tomorrow in the Southeast region are reaching into the 90s, indicating unseasonably warm weather. Atlanta will see a high of 82 degrees, while Montgomery hits 90. Jacksonville is expected to soar to 97 degrees, with Savannah closely following at 91. Meanwhile, New Orleans and Jackson both anticipate highs of 89 degrees.
This evening, showers and storms will develop from Shreveport to Jackson, moving towards Montgomery and Western Georgia by Sunday morning. By midday Saturday, areas from Houston to New Orleans will face isolated thunderstorms, with some risk of severe weather including damaging winds. Heavy rain could impact the eastern Gulf Coast, from Mobile to Tallahassee, through the evening. Temperatures across the Southeast will remain warm, ranging from mid-70s to upper 80s.
Miami will experience an extreme UV index of 11 today, with a burn time of approximately 11 minutes in direct sunlight. Expect similar conditions for tomorrow, as the UV index remains at 11 with the same burn time.
