A vibrant tapestry of spring weather is unfolding across the Southeast today. The regional radar highlights an active weather scenario. We’re seeing a stripe of showers stretching from Memphis and moving northeast, brushing against areas like Chattanooga. These showers are making their way into the Tennessee Valley, so people in Nashville should have their umbrellas ready. Farther south, rain bands extend over Jackson and are pressing into the western edges of Alabama. Cloud cover is thickening ahead of these rain showers, signaling to folks in Montgomery to anticipate some wet weather later in the day. On a more pleasant note, cities like Miami and Tampa are enjoying warm, clear conditions. The coastlines from Savannah to Charleston are calm.
For this evening in Miami, expect mostly clear skies transitioning to partly cloudy as the night progresses. Temperatures are steady at 79 degrees from 9 PM through 11 PM, then slightly cooler at 77 degrees by 1 AM. Winds from the east-southeast increase from 14 miles per hour at 9 PM to 16 miles per hour at 11 PM.
Now for the low temperatures, the Southeast is gearing up for a chilly night. Expect a brisk 48 degrees in Memphis, while Nashville will chill to 52. Shreveport cools down to 50. Jackson is looking at a mild 59. Atlanta should drop to 66, while Montgomery stays a bit warmer at 70. Farther south, New Orleans will see a low of 72, and both Tampa and Jacksonville are forecasted to rest at 70 degrees. Miami rounds out the night at a warmer 75.
High temperatures for tomorrow across the Southeast are shaping up to be quite warm, with several areas experiencing above-average readings. In Atlanta, expect a high of 86 degrees, a significant climb that sets the stage for a warm afternoon. Montgomery will be similar, reaching 88 degrees. Further south, Jacksonville anticipates a hot day with a high of 90 degrees, while Tampa could see highs of 91 degrees. In New Orleans, temperatures will hit 86 degrees, with Jackson also warming up to 84. Savannah rounds out the day with a high of 82 degrees.
Expect a dynamic weather pattern in the Southeast tomorrow with a cold front moving through the region. This front is set to bring strong thunderstorms and heavy rain, particularly impacting areas from Shreveport to Memphis. As the cold front advances into Alabama and Georgia, severe storms could lead to damaging winds and potential flash flooding, especially from Jackson to Atlanta. Rainfall totals may exceed an inch in some spots, alleviating dry conditions but increasing the flood risk for low-lying areas. Temperatures will gradually cool behind the front, leaving more mild conditions later in the day.
The UV index in Miami will peak at an extreme level of 10 both today and tomorrow, with a burn time of just 12 minutes in direct sunlight.
For the 7-day outlook in Miami: Friday: Partly cloudy with a high of 82 degrees and a low of 76 degrees. Saturday: Similar weather, partly cloudy skies with a high of 83 degrees and a low of 75 degrees. Sunday: Enjoy clear conditions, with temperatures soaring to 83 degrees and dipping to 75 degrees at night.
