On the Regional Radar for the Southeast, Charlotte is experiencing a band of showers as rain moves through from the north. This precipitation extends into a thin line of rain that is pushing farther south towards the Carolinas. Meanwhile, Atlanta remains dry, but clouds are building in anticipation of this system. Montgomery and surrounding areas are currently enjoying clearer skies.
Savannah looks to have a break with mostly clear conditions, perfect for outdoor activities. However, storm systems are touching near Charlotte, bringing a heavier rain belt to that vicinity. The line of rain stretches north, with the potential for more rain to push deeper into the Carolinas.
Places like Houston and Shreveport are under calmer skies, allowing for a quiet weather day. As the rain shifts, keep an eye out if you’re in the path as conditions evolve and rain bands continue southward.
This afternoon in Miami, expect temperatures to hover around 81 degrees at 4 PM, gradually cooling to 77 degrees by 8 PM. A southeast wind at 9 miles per hour shifts to the south-southeast and south-southwest as the evening progresses, with speeds up to 11 miles per hour. Partly cloudy skies will clear by 8 PM, providing a pleasant end to the day.
Starting off in Louisiana, Shreveport is enjoying a pleasant day with a high of 81 degrees. New Orleans is a bit warmer at 79 degrees. Moving over to Mississippi, Jackson is reaching a high of 77 degrees.
In Alabama, Montgomery shows a slightly cooler high of 72 degrees. Heading east to Georgia, Savannah and Atlanta are feeling the warmth with highs of 77 and 64 degrees, respectively.
In Florida, Tampa is basking in sunshine with a high of 81 degrees, while down in Miami, temperatures are also reaching 81 degrees, providing a consistent warm feel throughout the Sunshine State.
Tonight in the Southeast, expect cooler temperatures settling in as a cold front moves through the region. Memphis will dip to a brisk 39 degrees. Nashville will feel the chill as well with a low of 39. Shreveport is forecasted to drop to 46 degrees, while Jackson will see 41. In Montgomery, anticipate a low of 41. Atlanta is looking at a cool night with temperatures around 39 degrees. Further south, it remains milder with New Orleans at 55 degrees and Tampa at 57. Jacksonville will have a low of 52, while Miami stays warm at 63 degrees.
High temperatures for tomorrow in the Southeast are expected to show a mix of pleasant warmth and mild conditions.
In Houston, the afternoon high will reach a steamy 84 degrees, indicating temperatures above seasonal averages. Meanwhile, Shreveport is looking at a high of 81 degrees, also above normal.
New Orleans will experience a comfortable 75 degrees, while Jackson, Mississippi, will hit 73 degrees. Montgomery, Alabama, is forecasted for 70 degrees, providing a mild day overall.
Further to the east, Atlanta will see a high of 64 degrees, which is slightly below average, while Nashville manages to touch 64 degrees as well. In Florida, Jacksonville will enjoy a high of 75 degrees, and Miami is set for a warm 82 degrees, promoting beach-worthy weather.
Scattered thunderstorms are anticipated across the Southeast as a warm front lifts through the region. Areas from Houston to Atlanta will experience moderate to heavy rainfall, potentially exceeding an inch, which may cause localized flooding. Thunderstorms, some severe, are forecasted to affect zones from New Orleans to Montgomery, carrying risks of strong winds. A cold front is expected to shift through by late Friday, bringing cooler, dryer air to areas like Jackson and Memphis for the weekend.
