The Southeast regional radar is fairly calm, with clear skies dominating much of the area. However, a storm system is affecting parts of the Southeast. In particular, rain showers are developing along the southern coast, south of Houston, extending toward New Orleans. Meanwhile, Savannah and Charleston are experiencing mostly clear conditions with no precipitation in sight. As we move toward Atlanta and Charlotte, the skies remain cloud-free, providing a pleasant break from stormy weather.
For this evening in Miami, temperatures will be steady starting at 73 degrees at 8 PM and slightly dipping to 72 degrees by 10 PM. Expect a shift from partly cloudy conditions to mostly cloudy skies as the evening progresses. Winds will be from the east-southeast at 7 to 8 miles per hour, adding a gentle breeze. By midnight, clouds will dominate the sky with wind maintaining a steady east direction at 8 miles per hour.
Now for the low temperatures in the Southeast tonight. Expect chilly conditions, especially in the northern areas. Memphis will see a low of 33 degrees, while Nashville is forecasted to drop to 35. Montgomery will be slightly warmer at 45 degrees. Heading south, Jackson is expected to cool down to 52. Shreveport will register a low of 53. Over in Atlanta, the temperature will bottom out at 47 degrees. More mild weather continues for coastal cities, with a low of 60 in Jacksonville and 70 in Miami.
Tomorrow’s high temperatures across the Southeast are looking quite warm for this time of year. In Houston, we expect an afternoon high of 84 degrees, which is above average for late March. Over in Shreveport, temperatures will reach 81 degrees, also on the warmer side of typical readings.
Moving eastward, Jackson is forecasted to hit 75 degrees. New Orleans will be comfortable with a high of 74 degrees. Montgomery is looking at 72 degrees, slightly warmer than it usually would be this season.
Farther south, Tampa and Jacksonville are expected to see pleasant highs of 81 and 79 degrees, respectively. Savannah won’t be far behind at 71 degrees. Meanwhile, Miami stays warm with a high of 82 degrees.
“A dynamic weather pattern is setting up across the Southeast for tomorrow. Strong thunderstorms are anticipated from Houston to Montgomery, with the potential for isolated severe weather. Early Tuesday morning, a cold front will push through from Shreveport towards Atlanta, accompanied by heavy rain and gusty winds. Be prepared for possible flood advisories as rainfall totals could exceed two inches, particularly in low-lying areas. Temperatures will take a slight dip behind the front, with more mild conditions expected by Wednesday evening.”
The UV index in Miami is extremely high today, reaching a level of 9, which means you can burn in just about 15 minutes. Cloud cover will not significantly reduce UV exposure today, so sun safety is crucial.
