On the Regional Radar, we’re tracking some active weather over the Southeast region today. A line of thunderstorms is advancing eastward, currently impacting areas near Shreveport and moving toward Jackson, Mississippi. Memphis is also in the path, and conditions there will likely see showers developing as the storm system continues its trek. Houston is experiencing some pockets of heavy rain, with potential for severe thunderstorms, making it a wet morning for the city. Moving eastward, Montgomery and Atlanta are watching clouds increase, heralding the arrival of showers which are expected to intensify into the afternoon. Savannah and Charleston are experiencing some breaks in the rain at the moment, enjoying dry conditions, but with lurking cloud cover, rain could develop later. Jacksonville is presently overcast, but showers are likely to clear out, offering some sun peeking through by midday.
This evening in Miami, temperatures remain steady at 76 degrees throughout the night. Expect cloudy skies with winds coming from the east-southeast at 16 miles per hour. Later, after midnight, scattered thunderstorms are anticipated, with winds maintaining a speed of 15 miles per hour.
Tonight’s low temperatures in the Southeast will bring a chilly end to the day. Expect a brisk 53 degrees in Memphis and a slightly warmer 59 in Nashville. Shreveport is forecasted to drop to 59 as well. Jackson will see a low of 63 degrees, while Montgomery cools off to 68. Further down south, New Orleans will stay relatively mild at 71 degrees. It’s a cooler 66 in Jacksonville and 65 in Savannah. Tampa will experience a low of 69.
High temperatures for tomorrow in the Southeast show a warm trend across the region. Atlanta is expecting a high of 72 degrees, which is slightly above average for this time of year. In Memphis, temperatures will climb to 81 degrees, while Nashville reaches a pleasant 77 degrees. Over in Jackson, expect a warmer high of 84 degrees, leading the pack for the day. Farther south, New Orleans is forecasted to hit 82 degrees, and in the Florida panhandle, Tampa will reach a balmy 84 degrees.
“Tomorrow, the Southeast braces for an active weather day as a cold front moves in, stretching from New Orleans to Montgomery and farther into Georgia. Anticipate strong thunderstorms with potential for isolated severe weather, primarily in the form of damaging winds and heavy rainfall. Thunderstorms may hamper the commute in areas from New Orleans to Atlanta moving farther east toward Savannah by tomorrow evening. Rainfall over the next 24 to 48 hours could exceed one inch, raising flood concerns in low-lying areas. Expect cooler temperatures with dry conditions once the front passes.”
