As the tropical vibe continues in Miami with temperatures soaring to 81°F, a swath of complex weather systems threatens the Southeast. From intense storms across the Gulf Coast to serene skies in Atlanta, meteorologist Amy Freeze delivers comprehensive insights into this turbulent weather phase, ensuring your preparation for severe weather alerts and cozy evenings alike.
On the Regional Radar, a line of intense storms is taking shape across the Gulf Coast, with severe weather alerts in effect from Houston to New Orleans. Expect heavy rain showers in New Orleans and extending towards the Florida Panhandle. Jacksonville is experiencing some light rain as the precipitation sweeps across central Florida. The western Gulf is witnessing the initial development of mixed precipitation. The rest of the Southeast, including Atlanta and Charlotte, remain under clear skies for now, but cloud cover is on the rise.
Evening temperatures in Miami will start at 77 degrees at 9 PM with light showers expected. Winds will come from the southeast at 11 mph. By 11 PM, expect cloudy skies with temperatures holding steady at 78 degrees. The cloud cover continues through 1 AM with a temperature of 79 degrees and consistent winds from the southeast.
Tonight Nashville is dipping to 66 degrees, while Atlanta is slightly cooler at 67. Montgomery will see lows around 69, and Savannah is not far behind at 71. Farther south, Jacksonville will settle at 73 degrees, and Tampa will have a warmer night at 74. Miami stays the warmest with a low of 81 degrees, maintaining the tropical feel.
Expect warm highs across the Southeast tomorrow, with Jackson hitting 91 degrees, well above average for this time of year. New Orleans will reach 87 degrees, while Shreveport and Houston also enjoy highs of 90. Atlanta is set for a pleasant 84 degrees, with Montgomery close behind at 82. Miami and Tampa will be warm at 84 and 83 degrees, respectively.
An active weather pattern is shaping up for the Southeast, focusing especially on Florida and surrounding states. Sunday: Nice weather with partly cloudy skies and temperatures peaking at 88°F, with lows around 80°F. Monday: Partly cloudy once more, with consistent temperatures reaching 88°F for the high and a low of 80°F.
