Dive deep into why Miami’s weather is a tale of two extremes – from tempting beach days to caution-needed UV alerts. The radar shows clear skies across much of the Southeast, with scattered showers detected over the Gulf waters near New Orleans, which may bring some light rain along the coastal areas. Memphis and Atlanta remain dry under clear conditions, enjoying a sunny day. Jacksonville and Miami are experiencing some patchy clouds, but no significant precipitation is expected. Charlotte and the surrounding Carolinas continue to enjoy clear and calm weather.
In Miami, the afternoon heats up to 89 degrees with an east-northeast wind blowing at 12 mph. Clouds will be predominant at 4 PM, providing a slight relief from the sun. By 6 PM, anticipate cooler temperatures at 88 degrees with the wind easing to 11 mph as clouds persist. As the evening approaches, the sky clears up, dropping to 85 degrees with a gentle breeze at 9 mph.
We’re seeing some sizzling temperatures across the Southeast today. In Atlanta, expect a high of 99 degrees, while Savannah will match that with another 99. Montgomery is slightly cooler at 97 degrees. Down in New Orleans and Jackson, both cities will peak at 93 degrees, making it a relatively mild day compared to some nearby areas. Tampa and Jacksonville will also see highs of 97 degrees, so stay hydrated while enjoying the sunshine!
Tonight, temperatures in the Southeast will remain warm, with Memphis experiencing a low of 79 degrees. Jackson will also see a low of 77 degrees, while Shreveport drops slightly to 77 as well. New Orleans will be a bit warmer at 81 degrees. Expect Jacksonville to hit 80 degrees, making for a mild night across the region.
Tomorrow, Atlanta is forecasted to reach a high of 95 degrees, while Savannah is set to hit 99 degrees, indicating a hot day across the region. Jacksonville will experience temperatures soaring to 100 degrees, which is well above average for this time of year. New Orleans, Memphis, and Jackson will all see highs around 95 to 98 degrees, contributing to a widespread heatwave. Tampa is expected to reach 98 degrees, and Miami will be slightly cooler with a high of 90 degrees. This intense warmth is influenced by a high-pressure system dominating the Southeast, keeping the region mostly clear and sunny.
A cold front will sweep through the Southeast, bringing thunderstorms overnight from Shreveport to Atlanta. Be alert for the potential of heavy rain and strong winds overnight, particularly along the Gulf Coast from New Orleans to Tampa. By afternoon, storms will extend across Alabama and Georgia, introducing the risk of localized flooding. Temperatures across the region will drop slightly following the front, offering relief from recent warmth. Drier conditions return by late Wednesday, setting up a calmer end to the week.
Miami will experience a very high UV index of 11 both today and tomorrow. Expect a rapid burn time of about 11 minutes in direct sunlight. Please take precautions with sunscreen, hats, and sunglasses, especially between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
