Welcome to our weekly weather forecast with Amy Freeze! This week in Miami, enjoy mostly clear skies and consistent highs around the upper-80s. As we face a high UV index of 11, remember to apply sunscreen and reapply every two hours. The evenings promise mild temperatures for perfect night strolls or beach visits. A line of storms is approaching from the northwest, impacting areas from Memphis towards the mid-South region with rain and possibly some thunder. Showers are extending south into Mississippi, bringing steady rain over Jackson and further southeast towards Montgomery. The Georgia area, including Atlanta, is seeing cloud cover increase as rain moves in from Alabama. Coastal regions from Savannah to Miami remain dry and clear, offering a reprieve from the damp weather ahead. Some scattered showers are also seen around New Orleans, but the heaviest rainfall is staying to the north for now.
Temperatures in Miami this afternoon will be in the mid-80s, starting at 86 degrees around 4 PM and slightly cooling to 82 degrees by 8 PM. Expect plenty of sunshine throughout the afternoon hours. Winds will gently breeze from the east-southeast, ranging between 9 to 10 miles per hour, decreasing slightly into the evening.
This afternoon, expect warm temperatures across the Southeast. Atlanta will see a high of 88 degrees, while Montgomery hits 92. Further south, Jacksonville is heating up to a sweltering 97 degrees, and Savannah is not far behind at 95. New Orleans will warm up to 89 degrees, with similar temperatures in Jackson. Tampa enjoys a pleasant afternoon with a high of 92, but Miami stays on the cooler side at 87 degrees.
Tonight in the Southeast, temperatures will remain mild but are cooling down. Expect a low of 68 in Atlanta. Memphis will see a comfortable low of 64, while Nashville dips slightly to 63. In the deeper South, New Orleans is forecasted for 75 degrees, and Jacksonville will cool to 71.
Tomorrow, we’re expecting above-average high temperatures across the Southeast. Atlanta will reach a warm 86 degrees, while Savannah sizzles at 93. Jacksonville is poised for a hot 97 degrees, making it one of the hottest spots in the region. New Orleans sees a high of 89 degrees, and Montgomery is forecasted at 88.
The Southeast is gearing up for a busy weather day tomorrow as a cold front moves through. Expect a surge of storms, especially from Shreveport into Montgomery, with strong winds and potential severe weather extending into the late evening. Areas from Jackson to Atlanta could see scattered thunderstorms with heavy rain; localized flooding is possible due to the intense downpours. This system moves over the Southeast, bringing cooler temperatures in its wake; however, keep an eye out for changing conditions throughout the day. Tampa and Miami remain mostly dry with temperatures comfortably warm, though isolated showers aren’t out of the question.
The UV index in Miami on Friday will be very high at 11, with a burn time of approximately 11 minutes, so sunscreen is a must! On Saturday, expect the same UV index of 11.
