The Southeast radar reflects mostly dry conditions today, yet there’s a shift as precipitation looms. Rain is advancing from the Gulf of Mexico towards Florida, with Tampa experiencing showers. Miami also sees patchy rain, hinting at more to come. Jacksonville stays dry under scattered clouds. Elsewhere, cities such as Atlanta and Charlotte enjoy clearer skies for now, though vigilance for any weather shifts is essential.
Miami’s morning starts with partly cloudy skies and temperatures around 79 degrees at 8 AM. Winds will be coming from the west-southwest at 4 miles per hour. By 10 AM, clouds increase, with temperatures rising to 83 degrees and winds shifting from the southwest at 6 miles per hour. Scattered thunderstorms are expected by noon, with temperatures slightly decreasing to 82 degrees and winds shifting from the south at 8 miles per hour.
Tomorrow Memphis will reach a high of 91 degrees, while Jackson is also anticipated to hit 91. Atlanta can expect a high of 87 degrees, aligning with seasonal norms. In Florida, Tampa will warm up to 87 degrees, and Miami will see a comfortable high of 81. Houston’s temperatures are on the rise as well, hitting 89 degrees.
A cold front is moving across the Southeast, bringing scattered thunderstorms and heavy rain from Houston to Montgomery through early Tuesday. Southeast of Atlanta and extending to Jacksonville, expect increasing storm activity with potential flooding due to over an inch of rainfall. The threat for severe weather is heightened with the possibility of isolated tornadoes, especially across Louisiana and Mississippi. As the system progresses, temperatures will cool slightly, but the rain risk remains high. By mid-week, drier conditions will gradually develop across the Gulf Coast.
The UV index in Miami is set to reach a very high level of 8 on Monday, which means sunburn can occur in approximately 17 minutes, so be sure to use sunscreen and seek shade during peak sun hours. Moving into Tuesday, the UV index will decrease to a moderate level of 5, with a burn time of around 27 minutes.
