A line of storms is pushing through the Southeast, currently bringing intense rain to Jackson and Shreveport with local thunderstorms noted. Memphis is on alert as strong storms make their way into the area. Further east, skies are clouding over from Montgomery to Atlanta, signaling incoming showers. Coastal cities like Savannah and Charleston remain clear for the time being, but conditions could change later. New Orleans and nearby areas are experiencing light rain, hinting at more unsettled weather on the horizon.
Afternoon temperatures in Miami are hovering in the low 80s, peaking at 81 degrees. Light east wind at 13 mph brings a refreshing breeze. Expect mostly sunny skies transitioning to partly cloudy by 5 PM, with temperatures slightly dropping to 80 degrees. By evening, anticipate mostly clear conditions with temperatures cooling to 77 degrees, as winds shift to the east-northeast at 11 mph.
Today in the Southeast, temperatures are heating up nicely. In New Orleans, expect a high of 86 degrees, while Shreveport will reach an even warmer 86 as well. Jackson hits a comfortable 78, and Montgomery is a bit warmer at 86 degrees. Atlanta sees a pleasant high of 78 degrees, while Savannah warms up to 82. Tonight, the Southeast will experience mild temperatures, with cooler air settling in across the region. Expect lows of 61 degrees in Memphis and 59 in Atlanta. Montgomery will drop to a comfortable 64 degrees, while Jackson will see a low of 66. Further south, New Orleans will remain warmer at 69 degrees, and Tampa will cool off to 67. Turning to the Southeast region, expect an active weather day as a cold front advances. This front brings thunderstorms starting in Louisiana and Mississippi, moving into Alabama. Areas from New Orleans to Jacksonville should prepare for heavy rain and isolated strong storms. Keep an eye out for localized flooding, especially in urban areas. After these storms pass, cooler and drier conditions are expected to settle in.
Miami is experiencing an extreme UV index of 11 on both Friday and Saturday, cautioning of rapid sunburn in as little as 11 minutes under direct sunlight. It’s crucial to minimize sun exposure during peak hours and seek shade frequently.
