We’re tracking storms moving swiftly across the region and noting a surge in temperatures that might break records. These severe storms are particularly intense around the Memphis area, pushing farther east towards Atlanta. Meanwhile, stretches of rain are moving into Charlotte. Ahead of the rain, clouds are thickening over Georgia and parts of the Carolinas. Off the coast, areas like Savannah and Jacksonville enjoy a temporary break from the wet weather, while the skies in Northern Florida are starting to clear out. The Gulf Coast, including New Orleans, remains dry, but keep an eye on potential changes from these shifting systems.
Miami temperatures this afternoon begin at 82 degrees around 4 PM, gradually dipping to 79 degrees by 8 PM. Winds are blowing from the east-southeast at a steady 17 miles per hour.
Let’s dive into today’s high temperatures across the Southeast. It’s a warm day, especially in Jackson and Montgomery, where we’re seeing highs of 90 degrees. New Orleans is not far behind with a high of 86. To the west, Shreveport will experience a high of 82 degrees. As we shift to the eastern part of the region, Jacksonville is feeling the heat with a high of 88, while Savannah is slightly cooler at 81. Down in Florida, Tampa is sizzling at 91 degrees, while Miami checks in at a pleasant 82.
In Memphis, expect a low of 34 degrees, making for a chilly night. Nashville will cool down to 36 degrees. Shreveport is looking at a more comfortable low of 52, while Jackson dips to 41 degrees. Montgomery is forecasted to hit 37 degrees. Over in Florida, Jacksonville will stay milder at 50 degrees, while Tampa will breeze in at a low of 54. Miami will round out the night with a warm 63 degrees, but keep those jackets handy up north!
High temperatures across the Southeast tomorrow will be notably warm, with several cities approaching record highs. Atlanta will reach 88 degrees, making it significantly warmer than average for this time of year. Montgomery is even hotter, expecting a high of 90 degrees. In Jacksonville, temperatures will climb to 88 degrees, reflecting a trend of rising warmth across the region. New Orleans will see a high of 84 degrees, while Memphis will get a more mild 82 degrees. Shreveport, in Louisiana, is forecasted to hit 86 degrees, contributing to the overall warm atmosphere. To the south, Tampa will experience extreme heat with a high of 93 degrees, indicative of persistent warm air masses influencing the area. Savannah is projected to reach 82 degrees, slightly less than some neighboring cities but still well above average.
A cold front is making its way into the Southeast, expected to reach Memphis later tonight with a line of storms. This front will continue its progression into Jackson and Shreveport by early Friday morning. The main concerns include heavy rainfall and gusty winds, with the possibility of isolated severe thunderstorms. As the system advances, look out for strong thunderstorms stretching from Houston to Atlanta on Friday morning, potentially impacting morning commutes. New Orleans, Montgomery, and Birmingham are in the path of this weather system, with the likelihood of thunderstorms increasing throughout the day on Friday.
