Welcome to your detailed weather rundown with meteorologist Amy Freeze! Miami basks under mostly sunny skies today, but don’t put those umbrellas away yet. Strong storms are sweeping through the north, and the Southeast is bracing for varied weather conditions, from clear skies in some parts to heavy rainfalls in others. Keeping an eye on the sky has never been more intriguing. Catch the daily intricacies of the Southeast weather with temperatures, UV indexes, and much more! 🌤️🌦️🌩️ On the Regional Radar, strong storms are seen north of Shreveport, moving to the northeast. In the Gulf of Mexico, bands of rain are pushing onto the Florida peninsula, especially near Tampa and Miami, bringing wet conditions. Jacksonville is also experiencing rain, with heavier showers moving inland. In Houston and New Orleans, relatively clear conditions are prevailing, while Montgomery and Charlotte enjoy dry weather with increasing cloudiness.
Temperatures in Miami this afternoon will hover around 83 degrees with mostly cloudy skies. Winds are coming from the southeast at 13 miles per hour, providing a gentle breeze. By 6 PM, conditions remain mostly cloudy with temperatures steady at 83 degrees as the southeast wind persists. At 8 PM, expect a slight dip to 82 degrees with partly cloudy skies and a gentle east-southeast wind at 9 miles per hour.
In the Southeast today, we’re seeing some warm temperatures across the region. Jackson is leading the charge with a high of 90 degrees, followed closely by Memphis at 89. New Orleans isn’t far behind, reaching 87 degrees, while Houston comes in at a balmy 89. Further east, Atlanta is experiencing a bit of a cool down with a high of 78 degrees, the same as Savannah. Jacksonville is slightly warmer at 81 degrees, and Tampa will see a comfortable high of 80.
Tonight, Memphis will cool down to 74 degrees. Nashville expects a low of 71. In Jackson, temperatures will drop to 73, while Montgomery will see a low of 71. Atlanta will reach about 67 degrees overnight, a notable cooler trend for the area. Expect Jacksonville to remain mild at 73 degrees, while Miami stays warm at 81.
Tomorrow in the Southeast, high temperatures will soar with Jackson reaching 91 degrees, a notably warm day. Shreveport and Houston will also feel the heat, both expected to hit 92 degrees. In New Orleans, look for a high of 88 degrees, while Atlanta will see slightly cooler readings at 84. Further east, Jacksonville will enjoy a high of 84 degrees, and Tampa is set for a steamy 90 degrees.
A dynamic weather day is ahead for the Southeast as a cold front moves in from the west. Expect scattered thunderstorms on Wednesday, with heavy rain potential in areas from Houston to Montgomery. Watch for possible severe storms, particularly across Louisiana and Mississippi, bringing damaging winds and heavy rainfall. Showers and storms will push into Northern Florida, including Jacksonville and Savannah, by Wednesday evening. Cool and dry air will follow the front, leading to a more settled pattern by Thursday.
Miami is expecting a high UV index of 8 on Wednesday, so plan for a burn time of about 17 minutes. Thursday sees the UV index increase to 9, with a shorter burn time of approximately 15 minutes under direct sunlight.
