As Miami enjoys a relatively calm weather pattern, a storm system looms on the horizon, potentially disrupting the serenity with thunderstorms. A robust line of storms stretches from east Texas into Louisiana, with Shreveport experiencing significant rainfall and potential severe conditions. Houston is also seeing rain showers moving through, offering some relief. The front continues to push toward Jackson, Mississippi, where showers remain heavy, aiming northeast toward Memphis and Atlanta. To the east, Savannah and Charleston enjoy a reprieve with clear skies, while Montgomery and Charlotte are dry for now. However, be prepared, as rain from the west approaches Georgia and the Carolinas. Tampa and Miami in Florida remain tranquil under clear conditions.
Miami’s afternoon forecast shows temperatures easing from 77 degrees at 3 PM to 74 degrees by 7 PM. Expect partly cloudy skies throughout with an easterly breeze around 18 to 20 miles per hour keeping the air fresh.
Let’s look at today’s afternoon high temperatures across the Southeast. We’re seeing mild conditions in Shreveport and Houston, both reaching a high of 72 degrees. Jackson will warm up a bit more to 79, while Montgomery is quite warm today with a high of 84 degrees. Montgomery is forecasted at 65, and Atlanta cools down to 62. In coastal areas, Savannah will see a low of 64, and Jacksonville will rest at 67 degrees. Tampa is forecasted for a mild 69 degrees, while Miami remains warm at 74.
A warm air mass over the Southeast is being influenced by a high-pressure system, which is allowing for those above-average temperatures In Florida, Tampa is looking at a significant rise with highs peaking at 87 degrees. Atlanta will see a high of 78 degrees, making it a comfortable afternoon. New Orleans heats up even more with expected highs around 80 degrees. In Mississippi, Jackson will hit 73 degrees, while Memphis manages a cool 70 degrees. Over in Alabama, Montgomery will reach a warm 80 degrees.
A developing storm system is set to impact the Southeast tomorrow. Expect strong thunderstorms, with the Storm Prediction Center including parts of the region in its Severe Weather Outlook. Thunderstorms, some severe, are anticipated across Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama as a cold front advances. By Wednesday morning, the front will approach Atlanta during the morning commute, bringing showers and storms from New Orleans to Montgomery. Farther east, showers and storms will reach from Jacksonville to Savannah. Stay vigilant for potential weather warnings through the next 48 hours as the active weather pattern unfolds.
The UV index in Miami is at a very high level of 10 on both Friday and Saturday, which means sunburn can occur in about 12 minutes!
