Hello to all you weather watchers out there! Amy Freeze here with the latest on Miami’s fluctuating weather from heavy thunderstorms to bright, sunny days. This week’s forecast includes chances of scattered showers and clear skies. Highs and lows range pleasantly, making for classic Miami spring weather. Dive into our daily and hourly updates only on our blog. 🌧️☀️ A significant storm system is advancing across the Southeast, with heavy rain stretching from Florida up to the Carolinas. Miami and Tampa are currently under the heaviest rain bands, while storms are sweeping northeast towards Jacksonville. Atlanta is seeing increased cloud cover with rain on the way. Montgomery and Jackson are experiencing lighter showers, but rainfall rates are expected to pick up. The severe weather risk remains elevated, particularly for areas along the coast, from Jacksonville to Savannah, where thunderstorms are more likely.
Miami’s afternoon is set to experience scattered thunderstorms with temperatures holding steady around 78 degrees. Winds shift from southeast at 12 miles per hour at 4 PM to south at 10 miles per hour by 6 PM. Thunderstorms are expected to continue into the evening. By 8 PM, scattered storms persist as winds ease to 8 miles per hour from the south.
In the Southeast today, high temperatures are warming up nicely. Atlanta will see a high of 76 degrees, while Savannah checks in at 76 as well. Jacksonville is a bit warmer with a high reaching 80 degrees. New Orleans will experience a high of 78, and Shreveport is looking at a pleasant 80 degrees. In contrast, Memphis is slightly cooler today at 74 degrees. Houston starts off the day hot, hitting a high of 86 degrees.
Tonight, Atlanta is set to dip to 62 degrees, while Montgomery will see a low of 64. In contrast, temperatures in Jackson will fall to 66 degrees. Farther south, New Orleans and Shreveport are staying warmer, both at 72 degrees. Miami remains consistent with a low of 71 degrees, making it a comfortable night along the coast.
Atlanta will see a high of 76 degrees tomorrow, while Montgomery reaches 80 degrees. Jacksonville will hit 86 degrees, with similar conditions in Tampa and Miami, both forecasted at 85 degrees. New Orleans and Jackson are also on the warmer side, with highs of 85 and 84 degrees respectively. Shreveport will enjoy a high of 90 degrees, signaling a significant warm-up as we head into the summer months.
A shifting weather pattern is underway in the Southeast as a frontal system brings scattered thunderstorms from Houston to New Orleans. Expect cooler temperatures in the northern regions, especially around Memphis and Atlanta, where highs drop into the mid-60s by tomorrow. Showers intensify over central Mississippi moving into Alabama by the afternoon, heightening the risk for localized flooding. As the front advances, areas like Charlotte and Savannah brace for gusty winds by tomorrow night. Stay vigilant, especially in coastal regions, where rain persists into Wednesday.
The UV index in Miami will be moderate at 5 today, with a burn time of about 27 minutes in direct sunlight. However, on Tuesday, the UV index is expected to spike to a very high level of 11, with an 11-minute burn time.
