Learn how to prepare and stay safe with tips tailored to the local climate. The Southeastern regional radar reveals a relatively calm weather pattern with spotty showers. A weak rain band is noticeable over eastern Texas, around Houston, moving eastward, which might lightly affect areas near Shreveport. Meanwhile, the rest of the region, including cities like Atlanta, Charlotte, and Birmingham, remains mostly clear under cloudless skies. Coastal cities such as Miami and Tampa are experiencing dry conditions without any precipitation. Jacksonville, also enjoying sunshine, has no rain clouds to worry about.
Temperatures in the afternoon reach up to 81 degrees with mostly sunny conditions. Winds from the east-northeast at 11 mph offer a gentle breeze. By 5 PM, expect sunshine with a slight drop to 79 degrees. As the evening progresses, clear skies will prevail, with temperatures further decreasing to 77 degrees by 7 PM.
High temperatures across the Southeast are shaping up quite nicely today. In Shreveport, expect a warm high of 84 degrees, while Houston is not far behind at 82. Jackson will see a high of 79, making for a pleasant day. Over in New Orleans, the temperature will peak at 77 degrees. Heading east, Birmingham is set to reach 75, with Atlanta cooling off slightly at 70. Meanwhile, Florida cities like Tampa and Miami are basking in warmth with highs of 84 and 81 degrees, respectively, although Savannah is cooler at 75.
Tonight in the Southeast, we’re looking at some cooler temperatures settling in. Memphis will drop to 63 degrees, while Nashville will see a low of 52. In Atlanta, expect a chilly night at 52 as well. Montgomery will drop to 53 degrees, and Jackson is forecasted to be a bit milder at 64 degrees. The warmest spot will be Miami, holding steady at 72 degrees.
High temperatures in the Southeast for tomorrow will be well above average as warm air continues to push through the region. Shreveport, Louisiana, is looking at a high of 88 degrees, while Houston is set to reach 86. In Jackson, temperatures will soar to 86 degrees, and New Orleans will see a high of 81 degrees. Meanwhile, the state capital Montgomery will have a high around 84 degrees, and Atlanta is forecasted to hit 78.
An active weather pattern unfolds as a cold front pushes from the west, bringing thunderstorms and heavy rain across the southeast. Beginning early Wednesday morning, severe storms with possible isolated tornados could impact areas from New Orleans to Atlanta, emphasizing the need for caution during commutes. Expect intense rainfall causing the potential for flash flooding, particularly in urban areas with over an inch of rain possible by Thursday. Temperatures will slightly drop as the front passes through, leading to a cooler, more stable environment later in the week.
The UV index in Miami is extremely high for both Wednesday and Thursday, reaching a level of 11. Direct sun exposure can lead to a burn time of about 11 minutes. With such intense sunlight, it’s crucial to wear broad-spectrum sunscreen, a hat, and sunglasses. Stay in shaded areas when possible, especially during peak sun hours.
