Strong storms with heavy rain are impacting eastern Florida, including Miami and Jacksonville, moving up the coast towards Savannah and Charleston. Atlanta and Charlotte are preparing for advancing showers from the southwest. Although it’s mostly dry in New Orleans, areas like Montgomery and Jackson are experiencing scattered rain showers as this weather system progresses eastward. Miami this afternoon sees temperatures holding steady around 81 degrees at 4 PM with a breeze from the south-southeast at 12 miles per hour. Thunderstorms are expected to develop, transitioning to scattered thunderstorms by 6 PM as temperatures slightly dip to 80 degrees and the wind eases to 11 miles per hour. By 8 PM, expect mostly cloudy skies with temperatures cooling to 78 degrees and a gentle southeast breeze at 7 miles per hour.
