Over the Southeast, the regional radar shows a line of rain extending from Houston to just west of Jackson, hinting at a wet stretch heading east. Expect the showers to edge closer to Shreveport and possibly reach toward Memphis later today. New Orleans remains overcast as clouds cover its skies. The southeastern coast, from Savannah down to Miami, enjoys clear conditions with no precipitation in sight.
For this evening in Miami, expect mostly clear skies transitioning to partly cloudy overnight. Temperatures will remain warm, holding steady at 77 degrees by 9 PM and 11 PM, and slightly dropping to 75 degrees by 1 AM. Winds will be from the east, ranging between 13 and 15 miles per hour.
Memphis will drop to 55 degrees, while Nashville cools to 55 as well. Jackson is set for a low of 64, with Shreveport slightly cooler at 63. New Orleans will hold at 70 degrees, but areas further south remain warmer. Tampa is at 66, while Miami will experience a mild 73 degrees.
Tomorrow, the Southeast will experience warmer-than-average temperatures with several cities seeing highs in the mid to upper 80s. Atlanta is expected to reach 84 degrees, while Montgomery could hit 86. Jacksonville is set to be one of the warmest spots with a high of 88 degrees, and Tampa will be even warmer at 90 degrees. New Orleans will enjoy a pleasant 81 degrees along with Houston, which is also expected to reach 81.
A cold front currently stretches from Shreveport to Houston, moving east towards Jackson and Montgomery. Expect thunderstorms overnight with potential heavy rainfall and isolated damaging winds across this area. By tomorrow, the front will extend eastward, bringing showers from Atlanta to Charlotte. New Orleans and Memphis should prepare for wet conditions with possible thunderstorms. Temperatures will be cooler in the wake of the front, with drier skies emerging as we move into mid-week.
The UV index in Miami will be very high at 11 on Sunday, indicating a significant risk for sunburn in approximately 11 minutes of direct exposure. Monday also maintains a very high UV index of 11, again with a quick burn time of 11 minutes.
