As Chicago wakes up to clear skies, a dynamic weather system looms over the Midwest. From light drizzles in Chicago to torrential rains in Cleveland, Meteorologist Amy Freeze breaks down the forecast, providing all the details you need to navigate the changes. Rain is currently draped across the Midwest, stretching from Peoria and extending through Indianapolis, as seen on the radar. It’s also affecting Fort Wayne with consistent showers. Cleveland is experiencing torrential rain showers, with additional rain reaching toward Detroit. Chicago is seeing lighter precipitation as a band of rain brushes through. Clear skies prevail in the areas surrounding Kansas City, St. Louis, and Springfield.
Expect a partly cloudy morning in Chicago with temperatures starting at 48 degrees at 8 AM. Winds will be from the north northwest at 5 miles per hour, gradually increasing to 6 miles per hour by 10 AM. Temperature will rise to 54 degrees by 10 AM, reaching 56 degrees by noon with winds continuing from the north northwest at 8 miles per hour.
Tomorrow St. Louis is set to enjoy a high of 72 degrees, while Peoria reaches 71. Indianapolis will see a pleasant 69 degrees, and Louisville is expected to hit 71. Temperatures are slightly below average in Chicago with a high of only 58 degrees, while further north, Fort Wayne and Saginaw will struggle with cooler readings of 61 and 55 degrees, respectively.
Expect a dynamic weather day across the Midwest as a cold front sweeps through. Beginning in the morning, showers will develop from St. Louis to Peoria, extending towards Fort Wayne by noon. Thunderstorms are possible in Chicago and Indianapolis during the afternoon, with a risk of heavy rain and gusty winds. By the evening, the front will reach Detroit and Cleveland, where rainfall may exceed an inch, potentially leading to localized flooding. Temperatures post-front will drop slightly, bringing cooler, drier conditions heading into the weekend.
The UV index in Chicago will be moderate on Thursday with a value of 5, indicating a burn time of about 27 minutes in direct sunlight. On Friday, the UV index will elevate to 8, leading to a quicker burn time of approximately 17 minutes.
Thursday: Partly cloudy with a high of 57 degrees and a low of 45. Friday: Expect more sun as temperature rises to 61 degrees during the day, cooling to 45 at night. Saturday: It’s partly cloudy again with highs reaching 61 degrees and lows of 47. Sunday: The sun peeks through with temperatures climbing to 62 degrees, dipping to 48 overnight. Monday: Mostly cloudy skies bring 63 degrees for the high, and 53 as the low. Tuesday: Anticipate more clouds with a high of 63 degrees and nighttime temps at 52. Wednesday: Wrapping up the week with partly cloudy conditions, the high reaching 65 degrees and a low of 51.
