Light rain is indicated near Chicago, with broader showers affecting areas down to Indianapolis. In the eastern part of the Midwest, scattered showers can be seen near Detroit and heading into Cleveland, while Fort Wayne experiences overcast conditions.
For this evening in Chicago, expect a partly cloudy sky transitioning to mostly clear conditions as the night progresses. Temperatures will dip from 64 degrees at 9 PM to 59 degrees by 1 AM. Winds will be calm, shifting from north-northeast at 7 mph to north at 4 mph by early morning. Enjoy a peaceful and cool evening by Lake Michigan.
Tonight, low temperatures will drop to 56 degrees in Saginaw and 59 degrees in Detroit. Chicago will see a low of 58 degrees, while Des Moines cools to 59 degrees. Expect a chillier night in Indianapolis with a low of 64 degrees and St. Louis at 62 degrees. Kansas City will remain slightly warmer at 63 degrees.
Tomorrow in the Midwest, high temperatures will soar into the upper 70s to low 80s. Indianapolis and Columbus are expected to hit 80 degrees, while Fort Wayne isn’t far behind at 78. Kansas City will see a high of 77, and both St. Louis and Peoria will reach 75 and 77 degrees, respectively. Chicago will remain on the cooler side, topping off at 70 degrees.
The Midwest will experience scattered thunderstorms moving from St. Louis to Columbus throughout Friday. Expect locally heavy rainfall, especially from Indianapolis to Louisville, which could lead to brief periods of urban flooding. The cold front associated will drop temperatures by about 5 to 10 degrees across the region, with cooler air settling in on Saturday. Some isolated severe storms are possible, particularly focusing on wind gusts and localized hail.
