A broad area of rain is moving across the Northeast, with showers stretching from Washington, D.C., up through Philadelphia and into New York City. Heavier rain is observed over Pittsburgh, pushing northeast towards Buffalo, suggesting an active weather day for these regions. Syracuse and Albany are experiencing light to moderate showers with cloud cover extending eastward toward Boston. While most of the area is covered with precipitation, Portland remains dry as the rain bands haven’t reached this far north yet. Scranton and surrounding areas are also seeing steady rainfall, contributing to an overall wet day in the Northeast region.
For this evening in New York City, temperatures will remain steady at 52 degrees from 9 PM through 1 AM. Expect rain to continue, coupled with winds from the east-northeast at 11 to 13 miles per hour.
Tonight expect 42 degrees in Albany and a cool 43 degrees in Portland. Syracuse will be at 44, while Scranton cools down to 45. New York City and Boston are both looking at lows of 48 and 45 degrees, respectively. Pittsburgh will be slightly milder with a low of 48 degrees.
Tomorrow New York City is expected to see a high of 54 degrees, while Philadelphia is a bit warmer at 56 degrees. Scranton and Syracuse will struggle to reach the low 50s, at 51 degrees each. Farther north, Albany and Boston are looking at highs around 50 degrees, reflecting the lingering influence of cooler air masses. Pittsburgh will sit slightly above these temps, reaching up to 54 degrees.
A rainy day is in store for the Northeast tomorrow, with widespread showers affecting major cities like New York, Philadelphia, and Boston. Expect consistent rainfall, possibly heavy at times, especially between Washington and Syracuse. Thunderstorm activity is possible, mainly in the afternoon, though severe weather is not anticipated. Temperatures will remain mild, keeping the day cooler than average.
The UV index in NYC remains low at 3 for both Wednesday and Thursday, with no significant sun exposure risk due to cloud cover and rain.
