A dynamic weather picture is unfolding across the Northeast. Across New York, clouds are thickening, preparing for the rain that’s pressing in from the west. Currently, rain showers are sweeping eastward from Pittsburgh to Scranton, with the heaviest rain tapering off near the Washington area. Meanwhile, Boston and the surrounding region are experiencing a break in precipitation, though conditions farther north paint a colder picture.
In upstate New York, Syracuse and Buffalo are brushing up against lighter rain. However, the radar highlights a zone of mixed precipitation and snow near Portland, indicating slippery travel conditions due to the wintry mix. The northeasternmost areas are bearing the brunt of snow accumulation which is good for Northeast Ski resorts.
For the afternoon in New York City, temperatures start off warm at 76 degrees at 3 PM with partly cloudy skies. Winds will blow from the west at 10 miles per hour. As the day progresses, temperatures will dip to 65 degrees by 5 PM with mostly cloudy conditions, while winds shift to a northwest direction at 4 miles per hour.
Let’s take a look at today’s regional high temperatures across the Northeast. New York City is enjoying a pleasant 80 degrees, and Philadelphia is even warmer at 84.
In Pennsylvania, Scranton checks in at 76 degrees, and Pittsburgh isn’t far behind with a high of 76 as well. Meanwhile, Boston is lagging with just 42 degrees.

High temperatures for the Northeast tomorrow are looking quite warm for this time of year, with several areas experiencing above-average readings.
Albany will reach 52. Upstate, Syracuse sees warmer conditions, with a high of 65 degrees. Meanwhile, Buffalo will hit 61 degrees, providing a comfortable day for residents.
Moving southward, Scranton is set for a high of 66 degrees, and Philadelphia will enjoy a toasty 72 degrees. Pittsburgh is also on the warm side, with a high of 68 degrees.

“Across the Northeast, a complex weather system is moving in. Expect rain to dominate much of the region tomorrow. An area of mixed precipitation will affect areas from Albany to Boston, with potential ice accumulation creating hazardous travel conditions. Snow may occur farther inland, especially to the north. Temperatures will be on the colder side, hovering near freezing. Keep an eye out for weather advisories due to slick roads.”
“The UV index in New York City is high at 6 on Saturday, with a burn time of about 23 minutes, so be prepared if you’re out before the afternoon storms alter your plans. As we move into Sunday, the index lowers to 3 as cloud cover prevails, reducing sun exposure risks significantly.”
