In the Northeast, the regional radar highlights a dynamic weather pattern. New York and Philadelphia remain dry for now but under overcast skies, storms are expected tomorrow. Scranton and areas in central Pennsylvania are also under cloud cover with rain approaching. Pittsburgh experiences clear conditions, but watch for a front to move in from the west, bringing potentially rainy weather later. A mix of rain and ice is impacting northern Maine into Portland, creating challenging travel conditions. Meanwhile, light rain extends from western New York to Buffalo, with some scattered showers moving into the Finger Lakes region, including Syracuse.
Snow is making an appearance in the northernmost stretches, adding a picturesque but slippery element to the landscape. Albany is currently experiencing overcast skies with light rain, while Boston is seeing clouds thickening with precipitation on the rise.
For this afternoon in New York City, temperatures are starting at 53 degrees around 3 PM with an east-southeast breeze at 5 miles per hour. By 5 PM, expect a slight drop to 52 degrees and a shift to an east wind at 4 miles per hour, continuing the cloudy skies. As we head into 7 PM, temperatures ease down to 49 degrees with the wind subtly changing to east-northeast at 4 miles per hour.
Let’s take a look at the afternoon high temperatures across the Northeast today. It’s a bit cooler in Boston with a high of just 42 degrees, while further south in New York City, temps are a bit more pleasant at 55. Scranton sees a boost with highs reaching 66, and Philadelphia is looking warm at 70 degrees.
Moving westward, Pittsburgh checks in at 67 degrees, providing some nice spring warmth. Upstate in Syracuse, the temperature is a comfortable 64.
Now for the low temperatures in the Northeast region. Tonight, Buffalo will drop to 30 degrees, with Syracuse also hitting the freezing mark at 32. Scranton is forecasted for a low of 35. In Pennsylvania, Pittsburgh will see a chilly 34 degrees. Moving east, Philadelphia is expected to cool down to 44 degrees, while New York City will register at 45. Boston will be a bit milder at 44, and Portland rounds out the region with a low of 41.
Tomorrow’s high temperatures across the Northeast are shaping up to be quite warm for the season, providing a taste of early spring.
– **Philadelphia:** Expected high of 76 degrees, which is well above the average for this time of year.
– **New York City:** Reaching around 68 degrees, a pleasant day thanks to a warm front moving through.
– **Boston:** Anticipated high of 64 degrees, slightly above normal, signaling a transition toward more mild temperatures.
– **Buffalo:** Forecasted at 56 degrees, remaining a bit cooler, but still better than recent chilly days.
– **Pittsburgh:** Expected high of 63 degrees, staying on the warm side for the city.
Overall, the Northeast will benefit from a warm air mass influencing these temperatures, setting the stage for a lovely day.
“Expect a dynamic weather shift across the Northeast as a significant weather front moves in with severe storms in the east on Monday. Check with the Storm Prediction Center for the latest threats. Rain showers develop overnight from Pittsburgh to Philadelphia, spreading across New Jersey and into New York City by early morning. The Syracuse area up toward Albany and Boston will see consistent rainfall, with potential for heavier bands through the day. Cold air aloft increases precipitation chances in northern areas like Portland, transitioning to sleet or ice, particularly in elevated regions. The system clears by late tomorrow evening, but not before impacting travel in urban hubs like New York and Boston.”
Today in NYC, the UV index is low at 2, with stormy weather providing natural protection from harmful rays, so no significant sun exposure concerns are expected. Moving into Monday, the UV index will rise to 3 with clearer skies.
