In the Northeast, the regional radar indicates a dynamic weather pattern. Heavy rainfall is making its way up the East Coast, particularly impacting the Washington, D.C. area and moving toward Philadelphia. As this rain advances farther north, New York City is also beginning to see some showers. Scranton and Syracuse remain dry at this moment, with clouds starting to gather in anticipation of imminent precipitation.
Buffalo is under clear conditions, though nearby cloud cover suggests rain might be on the horizon. Albany and Boston are experiencing overcast skies with no immediate rain, but they should remain prepared as conditions could change throughout the day. In Portland, clearer skies are in place, though clouds are visible approaching from the southwest.
New York City is waking up to a wet start tomorrow morning. Expect temperatures holding steady at 41 degrees with showers throughout the morning hours. Winds from the north-northeast are gentle, around 13 miles per hour, contributing to the damp and cool feel.
High temperatures across the Northeast for tomorrow show a mix of chilly readings as a cold front sweeps through the area.
In Boston, expect a high of only 39 degrees, which is significantly below average for this time of year. New York City will mirror that chill with a high reaching just 43 degrees. Philadelphia won’t fare much better, also hitting 43 degrees.
Scranton, Pennsylvania is forecasted for a cooler afternoon, with temperatures only getting to 43 degrees as well. Over in Pittsburgh, there’s a slight uptick, with highs expected to reach 52 degrees, remaining under the seasonal norm.
Washington, D.C. is a bit milder at 50 degrees, while further north in Buffalo and Syracuse, highs are stuck at 48 degrees. This overarching cold pattern is being influenced by lingering cloud cover and winds from the north, keeping temperatures on the lower side across much of the region.
Tomorrow in the Northeast, a series of showers moves through the region, with heavy rain expected from Washington to New York City by mid-morning. The rain tapers off by late afternoon but may lead to travel disruptions. Areas like Philadelphia and Scranton should be prepared for localized ponding on roads. As the rain shifts farther north, expect rainy conditions in Albany and Boston by evening. No severe weather is predicted, but breezy conditions are likely near the coast. Post-frontal passage, cooler air moves in, keeping temperatures moderate across the region.
The UV index in New York City is at a low level of 1 today and tomorrow. With cloud cover and rain, the UV exposure is significantly reduced, making sun protection less critical. Keep an eye on that rain and enjoy a break from the stronger sun!
