A weather system is bringing snow and a mix of precipitation to the Northeast, with areas of activity concentrated in Western New York. Buffalo is experiencing a wintry blend, drifting eastward toward Syracuse. This system is expected to bring measurable snowfall and slick conditions to these areas. Meanwhile, Pittsburgh is seeing some light rain, transforming into snow as the system advances. Farther east, from Albany to New York City, skies remain mostly clear with no immediate precipitation, allowing the sunshine to break through for the day. The rest of the region, including Boston, enjoys a calm and precipitation-free morning, though clouds are lingering.
For this evening in New York City, anticipate cloudy skies with temperatures moving from 43 degrees at 8 PM, rising slightly to 46 degrees by midnight. Winds will be coming from the southeast, starting at 11 miles per hour and easing to 8 miles per hour. Keep your umbrella handy for a potential sprinkle and enjoy the mild evening warmth.
Now for the low temperatures, the Northeast is set for a chilly night ahead. Buffalo will dip down to 38 degrees, while Syracuse cools to 42. Expect temperatures around 47 in Albany. Scranton will see a low of 49. Philadelphia is expected to settle at 60 degrees. It’s a cooler night for Boston as temperatures drop to 54 degrees. As we move to the coastline, Portland will also chill down to 44 degrees.
Tomorrow’s high temperatures in the Northeast are expected to deliver a mix of above-average warmth, especially in southern areas. Philadelphia leads the charge with a high of 76 degrees, while Pittsburgh reaches a pleasant 71 degrees. Scranton will also see a high of 71 degrees. Both Albany and New York City are forecasted to hit 68 and 71 degrees, respectively. Upstate, Syracuse is expected to enjoy a high of 70 degrees, reflecting a mild trend across the region. Farther north, Buffalo will experience a cooler day at 60 degrees, while Boston is on the lower end with a high of 62 degrees. In contrast, Portland will be much chillier, only reaching 47 degrees.
A slow-moving cold front will impact the Northeast with a mix of rain and snow, especially from Albany to Boston. Expect more significant snow accumulations in higher elevations through late Tuesday into Wednesday. Heavy rain is anticipated closer to the coast, with potentially over an inch from New York to Syracuse, leading to localized flooding concerns. Snow and ice coverage farther north could result in tricky travel conditions. Behind the front, the temperatures will dip, bringing brisk winds and chillier air moving into the region by Thursday.
On Wednesday, NYC will experience a UV index of 6, marking it as moderately strong. Expect a burn time of around 23 minutes in direct sunlight. Don’t forget your sunscreen and a hat! On Thursday, cloud cover reduces the UV index to 3.
